Blanc "incompletion" (pic)

I thought he had control just before his foot hit out of bounds. However, if he had just caught the ball in the first place, it wouldn't have mattered. No excuses for this or the Pig Howard fumble.

He holds the ball too long. The ball was already gone when he hit his thumb. Excuses, excuses,.....

True the ball was gone...but as a former QB, I will tell you that when you see the blitzer in your face that close, you shorten your delivery...hence the underthrow...and he still hit his hand

IMO it was a catch.

Each week teams send complaints, questions, and issues to the league officiating office. It is very likely this was somethng UT sent up. Officials will be retrained if they agree with UT. IMHO, it was called a no catch because he pinned the ball against his groin. Had he done the exact same thing against his stomach or above... it would have been called a catch.

But we shouldn't get too lost in all this. Had he made a better play on the ball and secured it at first touch then there's nothing to review. I often defend Worley and he could not have thrown that ball more inside without giving the DB a play on it... but if it had been throw 2 yds deep into the end zone and still on the outside then Blanc probably runs under it for a score.

Again, I give Worley credit when I think it is due but he's making too much of a habit of throwing balls just a couple of yds short of where they need to be to make the catch more successful.

The result is the same but IMO he didn't hold it too long... he threw it a couple of yds too short.

But you also know it is an adjustment he has to learn to make on a play like that. He has to intentionally put more arm into it.

FWIW, it was still a good play by Worley just not as good as it could have been or as easy for the receiver. Blanc's bobble is the most critical factor. He lost his balance. A clean catch and better body control makes that a TD.

This pic illustrates the "breaks" we got back in the 2000's except it would have been called a catch! Call us lucky back then or whatever but that is how it goes.

You think the "luck" balances are tilted toward UT over the past 10 years?

The way I see it the ball should have been out in front of him. And also he didn't catch it cleanly. Catch with the hands and not the body and it still might go for a TD. Too many chances to make that play work for me to begin to look at the officials. But in the end it didn't matter anyway. GBO

Could have been a better throw. Could have been a MUCH better play on the ball with the throw Worley made.

I probably should look again though. If he had thrown it longer then the DB might have been able to make a play over the top. Where he threw it might have been the only place to throw it.

Just catch the damn ball Blanc. Thats what you're on full ride for...especially when you're wide ass open

Doesn't matter it was still a very catchable ball and it should have been caught cleanly. Worley made a good throw and he has been making good throws. There have been quite a few drops that have not been his fault. I think it's about time everybody stop putting all the blame on Worley. He has shown he has the arm strength and the ability to make any throw on the field.

That still was taken after the juggle, when he GAINED POSSESSION with one foot in!

Its a lot more fun to argue this with a win in our pocket.

I watched it several times on my TV in slo mo right after it happened...and MO is that he juggled it just enough so that the PLAY COULD NOT BE OVERTURNED.

They have a high standard for overturning calls, and I want it that way.

It probably should have been a catch to begin with, but was not called that way. I'm just saying I understand it not being overturned. It was just too close.

Which officials have you been watching?
