"The Path to an NCAA Bid"
The Vols need another impressive win, and they can't get that until the SEC tournament. First, the Vols must avoid a crippling loss by winning at home against Missouri on Saturday. Then, Tennessee probably needs at least two wins in the SEC tournament, with one of the victories being against Kentucky or Florida. With the SEC's unusual tournament format, it's unclear whether Tennessee would be better off being seeded No. 4 or No. 5 for the event.
A No. 4 seed would give the Vols a double bye into the quarterfinals, but a No. 5 seed would provide them an opportunity for an additional victory. In any case, the Vols probably need to get to the SEC tournament semifinals to have a shot at an at-large berth and may need to get to the title game." Another statement said only ESPN has them in as of now.

The funny thing is that every UT homer around here seems to be convinced that UT can do it with just winning two more (Mizzou and a tourney game)...I really believe we need to make it to Sunday too to make it to the tourney.

But the whole UT may be better off as a 5 seed to get more wins in the SEC Tourney, is the dumbest thing ive ever heard...they need the 3 seed. It would be the easiest path to the Championship game. Which I believe they can make a run if Cuonzo can keep on getting the best out of his players...

Uh. UT has a chance at a 3 seed. I mean, I know we are on the bubble, but life support is strong and this author has no clue what he's talking about.

Bleacher Report in a nut shell.

So please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way we get a 5 seed is if we lose tomorrow. So they follow up saying we can't afford a loss to Mizzou, with a "it would be better to lose and get the 5 seed"?

2 wins and we're a lock.

Win against Missouri and lose on Friday got us left out last year. Will probably do the same this year

21 wins/11 SEC wins, playing hot down the stretch, and a win over a Top 10 team that is the best team in the strong ACC. Obviously there is always trepidation because the Selection Committee makes up new 'standards' every year so nobody really knows what will happen, but UT has an above average chance to make NCAA with only 2 more wins.

LSU is favored by 12 so if the Vols take care of business they will get 3 seed. This would be huge because we would be in KY's side of the bracket instead of FL's side.

So you homers believe we have to make it to Sunday. We will see.

Exactly.

OP would have been better off just quoting knowthevols' "analysis" of the Vols' chances because that would about as valid as The Bleacher Report.

We are on "life support" to the extent that we need more wins. But, it's incorrect to say we're screwed if we don't grab a win over UK or Florida next week.
Beating Missouri and winning next Friday will probably be enough, but that's a moving target that depends on what other teams are doing.

I actually remember when bleacherreport first appeared. They bad talked the Titans, and so I was bored at work and sent them an email of why they were wrong. They actually offered me a "job" as a columnist.

So if you were wondering how qualified you have to be to write for them...

Did it pay? I mean it would be easy money.

Also all you need to look at is some of their articles on the "worst' uniforms in sports. For college football, they basically went through and suggested every team get a black uniform.

Cutting edge stuff right there.
