Wow you stumped me there. I bet you thought really hard about this one and then patted yourself on the back. lol

They don't make statues for the separate aspects of people's lives. Just a statue to the person overall.

Overall he deserves way more. We don't have a Ben Franklin inventor, Ben Franklin politician, and Ben Franklin womanizer set of statues.

Dumb question.

One portrays American patriots, one is a monument on US soil to traitors and an occupying force on American land.

I'm not going to respond. I don 't want to hurt your feelings again.

I think you’d be served well if you took an actual history class and learned the history of this country and continent. It might keep you from saying stupid **** like the bold.

The extremes of both parties do that. Republicans say you support the flag, no matter what and tolerate no insult to it, even if the free expression is not actually harming anyone. Republicans within the administration or prior GOP administrations that break ranks with Trump on almost anything are branded as traitors.

Not at all true. Someone on the right can disagree with someone not respecting the flag without calling for removal of some arbitrary or historical symbol.

Unfortunately, there are things that are trending that way on college campuses. There are POC only safe spaces to get away from the stresses of spending time around their white classmates and “peers”. This isn’t anything new, this was going on for a little while before all of this started and I think it’s very problematic.
If they are that stressed maybe they should self segregate?

Look away, look away, look away...
Haha. I shouldn’t have to though. Once again the true message gets lost because a bunch of over PC losers want to weigh in and cancel anybody that could be perceived as racist . The fact of the matter is that I don’t know or know of anyone that has been on Chauvin or the cops side on all of this . This country is not anywhere close to being as racist as people want It to be so that they can that they can profit politically. This is more preventative woke bull$hit run amok and it does get in the way of actual racism that does exist.

Raze the Lincoln Memorial too then since he was a poser and never actually freed a single slave.
You probably think you look smart for posting this don't you? You look like just as much of an idiot as the Black Lives Matter protesters. It's historical revisionism, and ignorant. I don't blame you for not attempting to support it... it would only make you look like an even bigger tool than you already do.

Back to the topic of this thread: According to the U.S. census there are more than 163,000 people with the surname of "Washington" living in the United States, and 90% of them are black. That is a higher percentage of one race than for any other surname. The reason for this should be clear to everyone. Even before Emancipation, many enslaved black people chose their own surnames to establish their own identities as Americans. They didn't choose Washington because he was seen as being offensive for having owned slaves. They chose the name of Washington because they wanted a name that they could take pride in. A name that resonated with them for being prestigious, aristocratic, successful and a name which was synonymous with strong leadership. That is the life they wanted for themselves and that was how they perceived George Washington. The Black Lives Matter people are obviously comprised of some idiots who don't understand their own heritage very well, and who are abusing their new found platform... but hey, as evidenced by @NorthDallas40, a misguided and ignorant person can be found anywhere.

Doesn’t take much to stump you..

The fact is that some want to dismiss the good of certain historical figures based on immoral decisions/choices in life...correct?

Why not ALL historical figures?

Fritz Haber........disregard the landmark and ground breaking discovery of Haber-Bosch process, production of nitrogen based products such as fertilizer and chemicals used today to make half of the worlds food production.....

Also, War criminal and father of chemical warfare........

Common in middle east via pharaohs to deface or remove the previous pharaohs likeness, writings and even kill their servants. Yet here we are 2-3 thousand years later talking about all the pharaohs, the ones they tried to extinguish. Guess that doesn't work.

As I said before, personally I'd rather they leave up a statue of a Jefferson, give a nod to his role in history. But also acknowledge he owned slaves and put up an additional statue memorializing the awfulness of that practice. Let young people see both.
Maybe they should put up a painting of Monica at the Clinton library??
