So I got a blu ray for Christmas,I watched step brothers and when I laid down it was like the movie was dark you couldn't see the characters face so I had to basically stand to watch the movie I thought it was just that movie, then I watched Freddy vs Jason and it did the same thing when I laid down,I've came to the conclusion it must be a setting on my tv,any clue or ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Did you close your eyes when you laid down?

Is this TV you have a LED? I have a LED computer monitor & sometimes when I watch sports on ESPN3 the people on screen don't show up to good either. I have to find a better viewing angle to have it work just right.

It's just the viewing angle of the set.

Stand straight in front of it. Looks good, huh? Now squat and look up....look pretty black with few details and fairly unwatchable? That's just the viewing angle of the tv. Set it on something closer to even with your face when you lay down.

Really? Everything I've read said they are a gimmick.

Well yes and no its my understanding its the same technology as any standard HD TV just curved.

If you need a new TV get a good deal on a current HD set around $600-700 unless you win the lottery. My suggestion is start saving your money for another couple of years until the Ultra HD 4K sets have started to come down in price.

There supposed to start coming out by summer and UHD 4K Blu-ray players are set to be released sometime by Christmas.

I'm hoping my TV will make it another 2 and half years and I'm actually thinking of going ahead and getting a new BR disc player since your standard Blu-ray players can now be found for under $30.

Okay! My first thought was this is 2015 and someone just got there first Blu-ray? :cray:

Now that that is out of the way as most have said its the angle!
HDTVs are made for straight on viewing with very little room for anything but that.

Since someone mentioned the HDMI (I don't know how many people I have heard say they don't know what the fuss is with Blu-ray since they can't tell a difference from DVD. You mention HDMI and they have no clue!)

One thing to keep in mind if its an older HDTV is the refresh rate of the TV.

One other thing that will help is to have the lights off. HDs don't like glare!
