1 Sentence Summary: I have three children, Im in school at night and my Bluetick needs a new home.
Volnation,
While I never thought Id be writing this it only seems fitting to come to you to first in what is naturally a difficult decision. I need help finding a new home for my 3 y.o. female Blue Tick Coonhound. My wife and I had the pick of the litter just three years ago and we brought our dog, Pearl, home just weeks before we welcomed our first child into the world. We knew we were crazy to get a dog that close to having a child but we couldn't pass up the opportunity; The opportunity to own a Blue Tick in the blood line of my most beloved team s mascot, Smokey IX. You see when my wife and I were looking for dogs we chose a Bluetick as one of the favorite breeds. As luck would have it the breeder of Smokey IX lives about ten miles from me, how I found that out is for another day, and he decided to come out of breeding retirement to help my dream of owning a Bluetick in the bloodline of Smokey come true.
The reason I feel compelled to find her a new home is that I havent been, nor will be able, to provide her the environment I had hoped. Im in school at night and were now expecting our third child. In addition to not having any free time to get my dog exercise, our family has never had the time to bond with her. Bringing home a baby shortly after getting Pearl has placed her and her needs on the back burner, and I dont think that is fair to her.
Our dog has been nothing but sweet to my children (3 and 2), she loves playing fetch with a tennis ball and enjoys chasing cats and squirrels. She is friendly with other dogs at the dog park and she loves to go for a run. I mean loves it. As with any Bluetick Ive ever met she will talk (howl) if she sees something she either cant get to (i.e. cat outside window) or when shes fulfilling her duties as a guard dog (i.e. she will let you Know when someone is approaching the house. ). She has NOT been neutered as we had contemplated breeding her.
Please know this is not a decision I make lightly, nor does this mean shes been mistreated in any manner. She simply doesn't get the exercise, attention or affection she needs.
Please let me know if you or someone you know would be interested in owning a sweet 3 year old Bluetick located in Charleston, SC, who just happens to be in Smokeys Bloodline.
