Bluray/DVD Deals discussion

It's Saturday morning and "Raiders Of the Lost Ark" is on USA network right now. That's why I posted what I posted. These movies are on TV almost every weekend. But I agree that the Blu-ray copies are outstanding in their own right.

Well, I'm off to Target to buy "Gravity" on Blu-ray for $15. Then come Tuesday, I'll get the Blu-ray movie "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" for $19.96 at Wal-Mart. Let the good times roll people.

Are you disc collectors going to re-buy all these movies when the 4k format comes out?

Not for your average film. I might if its one I really like or one that maybe didn't have the best transfer to begin with.

Now for some classic films I might like Gone with the Wind, Wizard of OZ, Casablanca etc.. then I probably would if it shows its a much better release.

I won't be. But, I also only had to rebuy 20 or so DVDs when I started buying Blurays. I wasn't a big movie buff before then luckily.
That's like me I only owned a small amount of movies on DVD the majority of the DVD's I own and still own are TV Show Season sets.

Y'all must be younger. I gave up on hard copy format for a few reasons 1) after going through Beta (while growing up) to VHS to DVD, I quit at BluRay 2) I realized I rarely rewatch anything 3) the clutter.

I sold off all my DVDs with only a handful of exceptions (which included the 98 Fiesta Bowl and 85 Sugar Bowl DVDs). I have a BR player that hardly ever get used to play discs. I doubt I will even follow the 4K movement. By the time I upgrade my TV the NEXT next gen monitor and media format will me on the market.

I'm 22 and still live at home. My bookshelf is filling up fast and I don't know what I'll do with the rest of my movies. Clutter is already an issue. When I move out I'll have to get a huge wall piece bookcase probably.

Whenever I have the time, I'd love to buy a bluray external drive and rip the movies onto my computer and stream them to an Apple TV or something similar.

nah. A lot of the movies I have are so old or aren't popular enough it wont get the bluray/4k treatment. I've never bought a bluray that I already own on dvd. I like bluray, but I don't need it to live.
