Bob and Bert

This picture got me a little emotional. Also, did anyone hear their post game or their final sign off?View attachment 731979
I did. Wanted to listen to all that the players and CRB said, especially wanted to hear these two, because they’re the only ones I’ve ever heard (outside of Hamer) call a Mens BB game. I thought the Vol Network tribute at the end was wonderful. Bert lost his composure a few times- just shows how much he loves Tennessee.
I would give Bob a little ribbing when he botched something, like others on here. But, to me, he had some enormous shoes to fill after John Ward, and he did an admirable job. You don’t last this long in that business without either having dirt on somebody or being good, and I have sat many a night somewhere in the United States or elsewhere, with my headphones or without, listening to the one and only “Statewide Stadium” while either he or John Wilkerson and their color analysts brought the game to me because I couldn’t be there in person. I knew this day would come and I pray he and Bert have their best days ahead. People like them make me prouder than ever to support Tennessee Athletics.

I’ve been listening to the Vols on the radio for as long as I can remember. I’ve had the pleasure of having John Ward and Bill Anderson for 1st 27 years of my life, and Bob & Bert for the last 26. Doubt there are many athletic programs , Pro or College, that have been so blessed. Good luck Mike Keith. You have an incredible legacy to maintain.

It's not just saying goodbye to Bob and Bert calling our basketball games, it's saying goodbye to a part of my life - to a part of all our lives - as well. This day is a heavy one. Not a bad one. But a heavy one. Congratulations to them on a phenomenal run representing Tennessee.

Some of the old calls played in that final montage were of games I watched with loved ones who are now no longer among the living. Heavy indeed.

That was 12 minutes of memories & Big Orange joy! Bob & Bert with their voices cracking with emotion, tribute to their families...& the last 5 minutes of game highlights was wonderful! The Vol Network has been doing it for many great years, & these two VFL announcers will be remembered. Thanks, Bob Kesling & Bert Bertelkamp!

This is the best way to explain it, I cried during the tribute to them. Wow 26 years of my life listening to them.

Listened to the final segment live as it came on, it sorta got to me to tell the truth. Bert is as good at color commentating as anyone Ive heard anywhere. Bob did what he could.
