Bob Huggins in some hot water

Yeah.... I really don't see Huggy Bear keeping his job after this. Being 69, this will be an easy out for West Virginia to fire him. "Coming back home" isn't going to have a good ending for him.

At this point in his career, he's not worth keeping. He has struggled to adjust to current trends with portal, etc...

In past 5 seasons, WVU has won 1 tourney game...

I don't see how he survives based on diminished results on the court

If anything,Huggins ought to be fired for the pathetic apology he gave last night—one he most likely didn’t mean a word of.

Hell, just man up and admit it was a old joke directed at an old rival.

There would be zero discussion of him potentially getting fired over this if it had happened in 2010 and he was fresh off a Final Four. It gets old seeing all these schools claim to be taking a moral high ground when they’re really just using these incidents to get rid of struggling coaches without having to pay the buyout.

on the other hand, if you’re a coach you have to know better. You can’t give your school a reason to fire you for cause when you aren’t winning enough.

This would be understandable as a hot mic moment, such as what Thom Brennaman, announcer for the Reds did, but he was a guest on a radio show. It makes you wonder if he was a little drunk - and he was fired from Cincinnati because of a DUI.

Yep. We’re no better about this stuff. If that 2020 team had been 7-3 instead of 3-7 it would’ve been a much tougher call on what to do with Pruitt
Well, that is an interesting comparison. The odds that Beldar could have accomplished that mark are about the same as the sun turning purple and beginning to orbit the earth.

Also, with his lack of success in the recent years and his personality, I don't think he cares if he's fired at this point. He came back to his school, got them to a Final Four. I could see him having that attitude.

PS... Beldar Cornbread has a nice ring to it. Never change it. 🤣

Well, a Light conversation that was between Old Friends; too bad somebody had the tape rolling. IF the tape was rolling at certain moments for All of us, what kind of crap would we be in? The guys were joking amongst themselves, and those two were seemingly egging Huggins on. Hugs should have just said, "Listen to the tape; it was a Joke." Then let the chips fall. Today's politically correct world. I'm just so tired of it all. Of course Huggins is gone, he has lost it anyways. Karma, please pay the leaker a visit; soon.

Leaker? He said this on a radio show in Cincinnati.

He is likely gone. However, if a bunch of idiots threw purple dildos on the court I would say that the statement was not far off base. Kinda funny if you ask me. Whatever. Most people have probably said worse things. I know I have.

Where did you come up with all these inventions you're presenting as fact?

This has zero to do with political correctness. The highest paid public employee in the state of West Virginia used a homophobic slur during a radio interview. This wasn’t two old friends shooting the breeze, which by the way, still wouldn’t have excused the language that Huggins used.

So what slurs do you and your friends casually throw around in private? And you are grossly confused about this incident

Not sure where you get your information from but you are incorrect. Here is one quote from an article on the subject, which is the same information provided by several other sources. “During an appearance on the Bill Cunningham Show on Newsradio 700 WLW, Huggins was asked about his former in-city rivalry with Xavier during his time as the Cincinnati coach from 1989 to 2005.”
