Rocky Top was written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant in Gatlinburg,Tn and recorded by the Osborne Bros. Not sure how they co-created it. Rest in peace though.

Agreed...but wouldn't you say Bobby's phrasing in the very first recording helped DELIVER the SOUND of Rocky Top that the Bryant's wrote about...?

Bobby didn't write it , but He made it what it is; nobody could do Rocky Top like the Osborne Brothers. Therefore he helped create it.

Listen to the original recording; remastered. (youtube) That is the best by far. This is good, but Bobby really hit the high notes in 1967.

Found this in my photo album, was fortunate enough to see Bobby and the Rocky Top Express perform at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman a few years back. They were a late addition to the billing that night and I was floored to see that. He will be missed.

I’m very sincerely sorry for your loss Volnation. The man gave you something that every Vol should be extremely proud of. R.I.P. Bobby Osborne. I’ve never typed this and may never again, but out of respect. GBO!!!
