Bobby Petrino to A&M

I think that is still a hefty chunk of change, even for them. If money was no object, they would have already parted ways.
No. That's just you projecting. I can see why they would give him another year. His recruiting is great and he ended the year well. Which that's also me projecting. We arguing two different sides of the same coin

I don’t see it being any better. Jimbo wont give up play calling and the locker room will have weed and women on a regular basis.

CultU, what’s next? 🤣

Texas A&M could get a bargain basement hire in Bobby Petrino if they decide to bite the financial bullet and fire Jimbo Fisher sometime during the 2023 season or in December 2023.

Lol affording his buyout has never been a problem. You don't understand how much money that alumni base has

Lol. Right. You must think they just have unlimited money. They don’t. If they did Jimbo would have been canned. People have this convoluted idea that a 90 million dollar buyout (just for Jimbo, not counting his staff) is chump change. It’s not. So no they cannot afford the buyout.

Just speaking of aTm money and how dumb they may be with it, this article suggests Garrett Riley turned down a $6M for 3 years offer from aTm for the OC job to stay at TCU.

That's $2M/yr for an OC in the SEC.

Obviously, it's one of those "sources tell me" things that could be complete BS, but if it is true aTm has not learned a thing from the Jimbo deal.

This makes it possible for A&M to can Jimbo Fisher during the 2023 season if the Aggies come out limping again. Bobby would make a very good interim head coach and possibly head coach after the 2023 season.
I don't see it, would owe Jimbo too many $$$$$$$$$$$ I think.

TAMU cannot afford to fire Jimbo.

Yes they can..very few boosters/alumni base can generate the oil money that they can. I've actually seen it talked about numerous places that very few if any schools have the money that A'M can. So yes they absolutely can, but there's no reason to yet...Let them have another 4-8 yr next season and see what happens. If they couldn't afford it it wouldn't have been offered. Don't get it twisted, they have the money and then some. Only Texas Rivals the type budget that A'M has with Boosters Donations.

Beat a ranked LSU team. This year he screwed up. His leash is short. But I wouldn't be surprised if he wins 10 games next year
This right here. I believe this will prove to be an excellent hire. A&M is not looking for an interim head coach. Petrino will have a field day with all that talent down there, thereby giving that catfish looking head coach new life.

A lot of people are giving Jimbo Fisher way too much credit. I think the last few seasons show the game has passed him by.

You make it sound like that would be a good thing? Petrino hasn't been even an average coach in a decade. A&M would be incredibly foolish to do that.

TAMU certainly is a have in the college football world.

Interestingly enough, A&M's budgets for the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years were presented for comparison purposes and they indicated that A&M's revenues and costs both were projected to be about $165 million and $170 million, respectively, and that the university was operating in a breakeven manner.

I know that Petrino is a worm, but I hope he’s still got something in the tank. I love the game, and he was at one time an innovator that was fun to watch. It’s a much better ride watching a shootout than a beatdown. Unless we are playing, I love a good beatdown.

There are lots of millionaire alumni who might help them out

I know more than a few wealthy people. They will spend money for causes they believe in. Never seen one just give for no results.
The program convinced donors to finance the Jimbo deal.
I doubt many would spend the money for him to go elsewhere or not coach and get paid.
He is at College Station until the buyout goes down a couple orders of magnitude.

aTm has to be the most talented awful team I have ever seen. And after portal transfers are completed, the talent level may be coming up short.
