For starters, Boise St doesn't play a schedule, they sell tickets to their practices on Saturdays.

Now, with that said, what if:
1) Ok St loses
2) Stanford loses
leaving only LSU and Boise as undefeated (Houston doesn't count in my hypothetical line of thinking).

Does Boise get the nod?

You know what, I'm sick of all the Boise St fly in the ointment talk. If this is the way it shakes out, let's just put them in the game so LSU can beat the snot out of them, and we won't have to listen to this nonsense for a while.

Thoughts?

Yep. It's time to put them in and let a top SEC team crush them so we can move on.

I think BSU gets their shot if thats the scenario. Absolutely no chance if either OSU or Stanford are undefeated, obviously.

I agree. I think we should give them a shot so we can never hear it again.

Or better yet, give them a shot, but only under the condition the following year they go independent and play the following schedule

@LSU

Home vs Oklahoma

@ FSU

Home vs Stanford

Home vs Alabama

@ West Virginia

Home vs SEC east champions

Home vs Georgia st/long island st/whoever

@ Pac 12 champion (assuming not Stanford)

Home vs Cincinatti (big east champ most likely)

Is that a hellacious schedule? sure.

Is it any harder than some SEC schedules? LSU/TN/Florida/Bama probably disagree

If they came out of that year with a winning record even I would consider giving them a BCS birth every damn year.

Am I the only one who's sick of all of the condescending garbage coming from BCS fans talking down to Boise? You can say what you want about them, but they beat the high profiles teams they face EVERY SINGLE TIME. There's something to be said for that. I get that they play a weaker schedule, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not one of the two best teams in the country.

Anybody with half a lick of sense isn't debating that Chris Petersen fields a solid football team. The problem that they, and I, have is that while they try to schedule the toughest non-conference opponents they can and try to get into major conferences, their current schedule is pretty weak and does not warrant a bid in the BCSMNCG.

I honestly do think they could give LSU a game, but unfortunately, with none of the five major conferences wanting to give them a second thought about joining and no playoff, they won't get that chance.

It's ridiculous that half the teams in FBS could theoretically win every game in any given year and never get a shot at the title, but it is what it is.

What also sucks for Boise State is the fact that apparently no one is willing to play them. Sounds like they've attempted to step up their non-conference schedule, but what can you do if no one will accept an invitation to play?

I think there one saving grace going forward will be that with college football more popular than ever, there will be bigger and bigger paydays for kickoff classics, and more good teams will be getting a big enough pay day to risk a potential beatdown from the Broncos.

I hope they don't get a shot until they join one of the BCS conferences.
Same, but the problem is that no matter how good they get in football, they will never get that invite. Yes, they have been the biggest out-of-nowhere football story since Bowden went to Tallahassee, but they are still a small, mediocre school with no financial endowment to speak of in a podunk city in the middle of a 1,000 mile wide major market black hole and non-competitive in nearly every other sport.

You don't play Boise St for the same reason countries aren't constantly at war, Sun Tzu says it best:

Move not unless you see an advantage; use not your troops unless there is something to be gained; fight not unless the position is critical.

What does Alabama, Oregon, Nebraska even, have to gain by beating Boise? nothing. But, if Boise wins then they are world beaters, they are the underdog champions, <insert title here>

You do not fight unless you have a reason or something to gain from it. Until Boise gives some reason to fight them (like say a 2 for 1 home/away) then nobody should.

So..IF Boise does accept the Big East invite...being the BE is an AQ conference and Boise wins that...what are you guys gonna say then? "OH..the Big east doesn't count..they all suck."
Right.

Why didn't Nebraska just offer a one for one? Even swap at each school. No additional travel cost for a second game. BSU is sitting on the request but has neither accepted or denied to date as far as I know.
This. On a dollars and cents basis, Boise would have been stupid to take that deal.

As I said though, their one saving grace could be the reemergence of kickoff classics (which I absolutely love. It's like pre-season bowl games)

Right.
Basically. I think Boise has more reason not to move to the Big East, especially with the impending departure of WVU. They might retain AQ status because it doesn't get reevaluated for quite some time, but with their last two football programs that are even semi-relevant (Pitt and WVU) gone by next year, it wouldn't do anything more to boost Boise's BCS title hopes than they already get playing in the MWC. And even with Utah and BYU out, most already view the MWC as superior to the Big East.

So, sorry, Boise would not gain any more credibility by moving to a WVU-less Big Least.

Football is entertainment. Boise in the BCSCG would be entertaining

The BCS is a joke and we have no good way to determine the NC.

Let them play - if they win, they deserved it. if they lose, it shuts up the debate for another decade or so.

Let's not get all high and mighty about the "two best teams". It's a myth.

Hence why everybody should refer to it as the BCSMNCG - Bowl Championship Series Mythical National Championship Game.

Boise stadium only seats 33,500. So Nebraska needs two home games inorder to equal out what it would cost to play a one for one series with an major BCS team in front of 85K plus. Its probably been 30 years since TN has played an out of conference game in a stadium that small.
