Boo Carter VS Egbuka

It either team has to throw to move the ball, the game will come down to pass protection. That was the difference against UGA. Can we protect better than we did against UGA and can we rush the passer better than we did against UGA?
This is the key for me. If Nico has time he can put up some numbers. If we don't get pressure we're probably in trouble.

How did these teams keep Ohio State's offense in check, and is Tennessee's defense capable of defending Ohio State as well or better than these teams did?

I didn't watch the Indiana game so IDK what happened, but Ohio State only had 316 yards of total offense against them.
Nebraska got them off the field on 3rd down. 1/10 3rd down conversions.

tOSU has won all year much like GA with Stetson Bennett. If their QB makes few mistakes, their D can win the game by stopping the other team and getting the ball back. He doesn't have to be flashy, just don't miss the easy stuff and don't turn it over.

We'll need to win the LOS on offense or we're really screwed.

"The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win." In this game we find out how good Banks really is. Hope He is better than what He showed vs Uga.

Idk. I think both our corners are fairly solid. Their receivers are just so damn good though. Our Dline though should be able to generate pressure. If they can’t get pressure we’re probably cooked.
I too hope the d line pressures the Qb, given enough time most Qbs can make life miserable.

I would love to see us get back the the defense we had at the beginning of the year, when we took out most of the starting QB's.

The OSU OL is very weak. It won't matter if they have prime Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson if their QB doesn't have time to throw the ball. That will be the key to the game for us. Getting pressure on their QB and stopping their talented RB group.

How physical are they going to let DB's play is the? I have a feeling this defense comes out trying to bully OSU early. Worked well for them in most games this season. I expect to see a lot of man press early.

I'm expecting the opposite though I hope you are right. I think we're going to play a lot more zone than usual (kind of like against Georgia) and hope Howard beats himself. I really don't like this approach, but I feel like that is Banks MO when facing this level of talent at WR.

Boo will be like a ghost and he'll badly spook them and give them the shakes.

Their hands will shake so badly that they'll drop balls put right into their shaking hands.

Everyone that's supposed to catch passes for them are going to get spooked and be shaking when they see a big Boo on their field.

UT fans will be screaming BOOOOO all night long.

The FEAR will hit the OSU team like a sledgehammer.

FEAR means...

Failure
Everyone
Always
Regrets

VFL...GBO!!!

Not concerned about any of their receivers. They play in arguably the worst conference in college football. It’s all hype. If those receivers were in the SEC, they would not have the same success
Its not all hype. their guys find success in the NFL regularly.

if their OL buys the QB enough time, any WR will eventually get open or draw a penalty.

i think the talk about the Ebuka/Boo matchup is a backdoor compliment to McCoy. Jeremiah Smith is their best WR, but they seem to be assuming that he’ll spend Saturday locked down.

If UT's Defense gets pressure on the QB, this matchup won't be nearly as critical.
Can't let their QB hold the ball checking down coverage.
Need to pressure pressure PRESSURE him.
Do that & we win.
Key to the game IMO.

I think that was a huge mistake in the UGA game. Of course UGA's OL had the best game of the season against UT somehow.

I have read that this will be a key match up in the game, and a lot of analyst are thinking Egbuka will get the best of Boo. I for one am confident in Boo and think he’ll make a lot of key plays in this game.
They have three stud WRs and this is our weakest part of the defense. I don't know why they didn't exploit this against UM as it was their weakness. As others note pressure on the QB without blitzing will be the key. If we play like we did against UGA we will struggle to hold up on the back end. D-Line 100% has to impose their will for us to win.

Oddly, I feel like if we can consistently run the ball we can limit their offensive opportunities. ToP isn't something we usually worry about....

Weather will be tough to throw too if the 15-20 mph winds are blowing. Cold will make longer throws even harder so ball control could be the key for both teams. This plays in our favor!

LFG Vols!!!!!

Will we play man? I hope so. I hate our soft zone that we were in against UGA. I think we can cover in man and Will Howard won't beat us with his running ability like some other QBs could .

Was mentioned that there were some exchange issues between the center and QB. That could be a huge factor if Ohio State struggles with that in this game.

Make no mistake, Jeremiah Smith is just different...... maybe one of the best ever when his college career is over.... This guy looks like he was built in a lab and his speed and route running are generational. His one-handed grabs are not normal. I absolutely fear this WR.

Why do I think this is homerism 101

Jamison Williams couldn't even make the top 3 at Ohio State, went to Alabama and scorched the entire SEC for a year with his best game vs Georgia and...UT

JJ Smith was the top ranked wr coming out of high school for a reason. NFL scouts said he would be the first wr in the draft this year

So we can take the word of people who make six figures doing the job of evaluating talent or a random poster

I hope Tennessee don't think like you, and leave JJ in single coverage all game, cuz it will get ugly if they do. He's a physical specimen and has a 4.3 time.

They have like four first rounders in the last three years at WR and are all doing well.

The OLine is the issue for them only due to losing two all Americans, but it's where I can get at them
