Booster talk...

Don't forget that one of those losses was one of the best shooting performances we've ever seen. UK didn't beat us at home in 08/09, Jody Meeks did it all by his lonesome

Well, I would rather beat the cats than any team we play. If we can't be competitive with UK, we certainly aren't likely to even go to the tournament, much less advance.

From being in the stands for every single home game during Lofton's career at UT, saying that was the most impressive shooting perfomance says a ton. In basketball, there are times when a player rises above and beyond every expectation and even though the guy was clad in blue and white, that was a remarkable thing to witness. That loss really didn't bother me as much as I would have expected walking into TBA. It wasn't that we couldn't defend him, it was that he was undefensable that day

When Gillispie was up I-75, we certainly did just that basket, and UK fans weren't happy they could keep pace with us when Gardner-Webb was making sportscenter. Don't get me wrong, I circle the UK games on the calendar as well but once the game is played I am looking forward regardless of the outcome. The beauty of basketball is you can survive a loss to a rival where in football that loss can cost you a shot at the NC

He had, perhaps, the best shooting game I've ever witnessed. It was incredible to see, even if he did beat the Vols. Of course, we would never have wanted to consider denial of the ball or double teams. It might have affected his shooting.

There is zero excuse to let Jodie Meeks score 54 points on you.

If he was suited up against the Lakers he wouldn't have missed. Those shots were almost all answered prayers

deep uncontested shots. Not many in good range. At least UK fans got a taste of being on the other end when Devon Downey lit em up in similar fashion :)

There is no doubt he made some great shots but UT did not adjust and played terrible D.

No doubt JZ...

Devoe did better than I realized. Of course, I am only 28 years old so I didn't get to witness any of his tenure in person...

Who is this DeVoe guy? Everyone knows the only coaches UT has had are Green, Houston, Buzz and Pearl and if we lose Pearl, our only choices are the other three.

He's the only Tennessee coach to do it. Not sure if anyone else has done it. I doubt it.

Ray Mears 5 wins in a row vs UK over 3 seasons starting in 1974 - Bernard swore he would never lose to UK again and didn't (after a mildkitten fan threw a cigarette into his hair? rumor or fact ?)

74 UT won 103-98 Knoxville
75 90-88 Lexington and 92-85 Knoxville
76 71-67 Lexington and 81 -79 Knoxville

How does any of that relate to beating Kentucky three times in one season?

So Sorry - just was reading ahead to the next question of longest modern day streak against UK
No SEC tourney during Ray Mear's era - would have been interesting to see results if there had been.

No need to apologize. Just having a little fun with you. Hard to say about the SEC Tournament issue you pose. Mears didn't have great success in the postseason, but a league tourney is different than playing unfamiliar foes in the NCAAs or NIT.

on the thought of " there is no stupid question - only stupid people asking questions."
does any one know if ticket scalping is legal in florida?
thinking of going to Fla. / UK

you do realize that lots of people on here would be considered "boosters" right?

Yes, no offense but I am not ignorant. I happen to know that these people pump alot of money into UT. Not the biggest boosters UT has by any means, but quiet a bit. Put it this way...They dont give enough to have a "say so". I just heard them talking and wanted ya'lls opinion on the matter.:good!:

Quite amazing for all his success that Mears never won a NCAA game. Of course, it was completely different then, but you would have thought the Ernie and Bernie show would have, at least, won one game in the tourney.
