Should it be 6-6 or 7-5? Are there too many bowls and if so how many should there be?

I can remember the days when there were only 10 bowl games, back in the 60's and only the conference winners and maybe runner-ups got bowl bids. Back then teams only played a 10 game regular season and there were no divisions nor Championship playoffs in conferences.
Also as far back at the 1980's there were only 20-25 bowl games.
I think 40 is too many and I think a team should have a 7-5 record to get an invitation. Doing that would cut the number of bowls back to around 25.
Thoughts?

Unless they completely revamp the bowl system it wont go t 7-5. Hell three 5-7 teams are in bowls now. It's the amount of bowl games that keeps increasing causing this.

2015- 41 bowls
2014- 39
2010-2013- 35
2008-2009- 34
2006-2007- 32
2005- 28

There are way too many bowl games for sure. Cut back to 25 games and invite the best of the best.

Exactly. If you don't want to watch two 6-6 teams play (or even a possible 5-6 team), then don't watch. I have no problem watching college football.

If sponsors want to spend the money and schools will send their players then why limit participation?

Bowls stopped being a "reward" when they started to count towards rankings, national titles and coaches pay.

A team ranked #50 in the country is the best of the best?

I get your point but I still think teams should have to earn the extra game, the payout, the SWAG, and so forth by cracking .500 at least.

Personally I think 7-5 should be the eligibility point. Unfortunately I think we will see more and more 5-7 teams get in.

Let's face it. They're never going away. They're essentially consolation prizes that generate money. There will likely be more in the long run.

Flip side: money for the schools, extra practice for players, and it's a nice reward for the players I think.

There are arguments for having this many and getting rid of some, but I think before any further expansion of the bowls, they'll need more FBS teams so they can have more teams with winning records lol

We have a bowl between conference opponents and it's not even being aired nationally. We may have finally reached the point of oversaturation.

If we were 5-7 I think we would all want that bowl. But I do agree there's too many. Cash is king tho

That one I really don't get how it will survive. The others all probably survive mostly on TV money, but if the game isn't nationally televised on any of the major networks or offshoots, I have no idea how it will make any money.

Also I can't remember the last time a bowl game wasn't nationally televised. I remember as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s some weren't, but it's been that long.

also the line should be right above Vandy's head and right below our feet. (vandy's wins and our losses)

?

which one. i will admit I haven't even looked.

Arizona Bowl, Dec. 29. Nevada vs. Colorado St. It is airing on the "Campus Insiders" Network online and the American Sports Network on TV, which means it's probably going to be on your local MyNetwork TV station if at all.

I mean I thought a thread almost exactly like this was started about a week or two ago, talking about 5-7 teams making a bowl.

Yes. there was. And there will probably be at least one more. And there were at least three last year. And three the year before that. And two back '12. I wanted to know which specific time you were referencing the too many bowls thread.
