BOYCOTT the Sugar Bowl

With bama and lsu in the championship, Arkansas couldn't be in the sugar bowl.

Kansas St though should have probably gotten that bid over VT though

Why not? BCS is so screwed up, should have put them in there anyways. :)

Rule in place from the older model when there were only 8 bcs bowl spots (and only two at large spots)

Only 2 teams from a given conference...I think it was originally designed so that people selecting would have to focus more on quality (ranking) than brand names. (to have kept the selectors in the earlier years from going "we've got penn st and Michigan; yeah I know UGA is ranked #8, but look Ohio state just qualifies for consideration and you know they're so much bigger of a sale" ---just an example dawg fans, not saying it is or isn't the case)

Yeah, Peterson was pissed about getting snubbed. He's playing a 6-6 team. Look out for him to kill that team.

After reading all the BCS threads over the past few days, it drives home the fact that most people do not even understand what the BCS is truly about. The BCS is responsible for delivering one thing, a national championship between the #1 and #2 teams, that's all. After that, it is strictly about money and the T.V. draw. You think the Sugar Bowl wants to lose money by having Boise St or Kansas St bring 10,000 fans? Fact is Michigan/VT will bring a ton of fans, who will stay in the city and spend a ton of money, case closed.

I saw on the Twitters that two of the three lowest TV ratings for BCS bowl games have involved VA Tech.

I don't doubt the T.V draw has been bad, I won't hardly watch a game they play. But the fact is both fanbases will flock to New Orleans and spend the cash.

I thought there was some provision that provided for three teams from one conference if certain events occur. Or maybe I just hallucinated.

If UGA had beaten LSU, they would go to the Sugar Bowl as conference champions. If Alabama moved to #1 and LSU only dropped to #2, then they would still meet in the NC game, and UGA would be the third team.

Correct. It's essentially that the overall 1st and 2nd ranked teams be from the same conference but neither be the actual conference champion
