Understand now but Martin should not be fired at the end of this season. So hypotheticaly if he were fired at the end of next season who would land the better job him or Pearl.

I think it would be a toss up. In my opinion Pearl will not land a D-1 job next year and will have to go the D-2 route and prove himself again. Martin at this point in his career has not proven he can get it done and has a style pf play that does not energize a fanbase. JMO

You blame the negativity and drama for having a bad season, but why can't I blame coach martins bad season on Maymons injury? Please answer this. And Pearl had some ugly L's that season too though.

If Martin got fired next year and Pearls show cause was over, Pearl would get hired first. One has proven he can win consistently. If Martin gets fired after next year, with that roster, that will mean he failed miserably.

Pearl still got us to the tourney in his bad season, so there's that. I'm giving Zo a pass for this year, I told my friends we were in big trouble when Maymon went down. If he he 0-3 tourney wise after next year, there will be no excuses.

I understand that. Everyone that is realistic should give him a pass this year. I support Martin 100%, but if he doesn't make the tournament next year I will no longer support him.

That's exactly where I am. I just hate that Pearl/Martin has turned into Dooley/Fulmer in here. I appreciate what Pearl did, and hey people make mistakes. I fully support Zo till proven otherwise. People act like you have to be one way or the other.

Yeah I do not get it either. Why can people not respect what Pearl did here and realize he made a mistake and had to pay for it. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance and I hope one day Pearl gets his. I to support Zo and hope he can get it done but at this point I have my doubts.

I suspect most of the posters who are criticizing Pearl are to young to remember basketball prior to Pearl.

It just gets mind numbing reading the same arguments in 10 different threads. Mention a player and 5 posts later someone will say who recruited him. When I first came here it was relaxed and I enjoyed it. Now it's becoming ff ish, and I don't come as often. Losing makes fan crazy I guess. I'll be critical when necessary, but I'd like to talk UT basketball without it always turning to Pearl vs Zo. And that is my daily rant. Lol

Yeah it has stressed me out, but I can't stop coming to VN, I'm addicted lol. VN was better back in the day. The posters and everything.

Yeah me to I rarely come to the site anymore due to the same issues. I loved Pearl and the way he coached but in the end he had to be fired and that is water under the bridge.

I think some people are hurt still because they realize what Pearl did do here, and hate that he messed it up. Others just are so vehement in their Zo support that they hate on Pearl. Personally I appreciate what Pearl did, and hate that he messed it up. But I remember pre-Pearl days so I appreciate the time he was here. I fully support Zo and hope he can get the job done. I have my reservations about him, but you are bound to have some with any coach. To be honest I just hate the words "next year", the most annoyingly painful words in sports. IMO

I started coming here in May I think. Being in KY it's my UT fix, so I come everyday. I love my Vols, in all sports, so I'm addicted too. This place is my sanctuary from the constant UK talk I hear up here. Talk about mind numbing. Lol

Well I spend a lot of time in the zone. Lots of craziness in there but I enjoy craziness so it works. A lot of good dudes in there, just gotta have thick skin. Agree on the Pearl stuff.

I live in Louisville so I get to hear both sides. The best is when UofL and UK fans are talking to each other and I'm around. Talk about irrational hatred for each other. 2 dudes got in a fight at a dialysis clinic a couple years back over the 2 schools.

Lol small world. I guess being in KY makes us more rational cause we have to listen to the UK UofL madness all day. BTW my hatred for UK has grown 100% since I moved here. UK fans are beyond obnoxious.

Hahahaha. I also live in Louisville and that might be the worst I've heard. Buddy of mine refuses to wear red, ever. Won't make any bets, no matter how one-sided, that require him to wear red. It's hysterical.

This. After coming here, UK quickly rose to the top of my 'most hated' list. Their fans are the worst I've seen.

Really, what part? I have a buddy his sister bought him a royal blue UofL hat, he promptly set it on fire. There isn't a single day that he doesn't have something UofL on.
