Bracket Busters

This year's bracket is wide open. No team is playing better than Florida, but after them, anybody can lose to pretty much anybody. There are so many teams that could lose on the first week or be playing the first Monday in April. Teams like Arizona, Duke, Syracuse, UNC, Michigan St, Kansas, etc could go on a streak and blow out everybody. They could also have one very bad day and lose the first game.Teams like Tennessee, Oklahoma State, UMASS and Oregon can go waaaaaaaaaaay further than they are expected. I fully expect Wichita St to lose early.

Basically, if someone wins Warren Buffet's Billion Dollar bracket challenge, they earned it.

Arizona will get beat by the first decent squad with a great coach. They play good defense, but suspect at the free throw line and the offense isn't always perfect. Don't get me wrong, I think they are a very good team, just not a final four team.

Oregon....... Sure Oregon can beat anyone, but they have too many break downs on defense and occasionally force things on offense. If they play within the system and play defense they will make some noise. They just aren't consistent enough and suspect inside. They are definitely one of the deepest teams around and have tons of guys that can nail the three. So they can shoot their way in and out of games.

If we're talking double digit seed:

Tennessee, SMU, and Harvard

Oustide of Harvard, the other double-digit AQ I think could be dangerous is Georgia State. If Louisiana Tech makes it, they would definitely be one to watch

As wide open as this tournament is going to be...I bet very few will even get the final four right.

NC Central looks interesting as a "bracket buster". Not sure I've bought into American Univ yet, but they appear to play solid defense and could give some team an early scare in a close low scoring game.

Me, because I'm sure after the first weekend I will want to bust the crap out of my bracket.

Too many upsets in the lower conferences IMO. Teams like Iona, Green Bay, Belmont, Toledo, Vermont, and Boston would have provided problems.

Danny Manning has Tulsa playing well right now. 11 game win streak. Harvard has been in the think of things the last couple of years. Dayton, Nebraska, and BYU can be double digit seeds that will wreck havoc.

I'll say it right now. Wichita State better be careful. The right #16 could give them fits. I'm hoping they're the first 1 seed to lose in the first round.

I don't want to be biased but I genuinely think Georgia State has a great chance to upset some people if they win today. I say that because they have lost once in their last 20 games and they can score on will on people and shoot amazing beyond the arc. Sounds like a great forumla for success to upset some teams in the big dance.

16 of the 32 (I think that's right?) 1 seeds failed to win their conference tournaments. That leads to a lack of quality 13-15 seeds, which is why a 12 loss team like Tulsa is a 13 seed despite their best win being either Southern Miss or Louisiana Tech. I think your best bet for a low/mid-major double digit seed to see the second weekend is Harvard.

Nah, the 16 seeds suck too. Wichita's been pounding 16 seeds for three months now, don't see why that stops Thursday/Friday. I could see Weber State giving Wichita or Michigan a game, but no upsets this year.

Watched a little bit this morning, if they do beat someone in the first round, it will be an upset. Personally I think they will go down pretty hard to a decent team defense.

Making a different post for this: the 14 seeds are irrationally dangerous this year. I think the 3 seeds are probably too strong to drop the first game (a grouping of Duke v. UVA winner/Louisville/ISU/Creighton is darn good), but all of the 3-14 games should be phenomenal. Virginia would probably be the most susceptible to an upset out of those, unless Syracuse somehow retains a 3 seed.

Well obviously it would be an upset, hence the point of this thread lol

If you consider who WSU has been playing 16 seeds then they're ripe for an upset as they've had close calls along the way.

I just think they're too well-coached and too talented to lose in the first round. Round of 32 is where anything can happen for 1 seeds
