Brady & Moss to skip Pro Bowl

The Patriots were ripe for the upset, too many games toward the end of the year were won by just doing enough. Unfortunately for them they played their best ball at the beginning of the year. As far as the pro bowl goes I could care less it is absolutely useless!!!!!!!!!!

:snoring:

ESPN should be announcing later in the day that I am also skipping the Pro Bowl.

when a team scored like NE did this year it's understandable. They also put up 38 on the NYG last time they played them.

If I'm a coach I really want my QB to have a swagger about him. The pro QB who thinks "golly gee guys, I hope we are able to beat this team" ends up holding a clipboard or selling insurance. You have to have that competitive spirit just to get to that level. Even moreso to be considered one of the greatest.

Whatever man.

In that press conference - his response was FAR from "competitive spirit". When Anthony Smith garunteed a victory you didn't see Tom Brady laugh in the guys face at a press conference. He had his usual "the game has to be played on the field and not in words" response. He slowly changed into an arrogant prick as the season wore and and 16-0 got into his head.

Wow, many a'idiotic posts here.

Super Bowl players generally do skip the Pro Bowl, not just these guys. Get over it.

And Brady laughed at Burress's prediction of 17 points, not the reporter. I think it makes Brady look foolish, yes, but he wasn't laughing at the reporter.

Also, many of you need to reach into your crack and pull the panties out.

This is really a non-issue. It's no different that players skipping the MLB All-Star game. I'm not going to watch it anyway. I'm zoned in on basketball now.

That was implied by what I said. I know he wasn't laughing at the reporter I was just talking about the instance.

And the only reason this is worth any mention is because of his "golden boy" image that ESPN tries to portray for him. People do skip the pro-bowl all the time - but he's just making himself look like a moron skipping it after being embarassed in the big game and choking. He obviously doesn't care much about his image, which is okay with me.

What is more idiotic/arrogant?

1. A quarterback that just broke the record for most TD passes in a single season, led the highest scoring NFL offense ever, and has the greatest deep threat WR of all time laughs at someone suggesting he will score only 17 points.

2. An offensive player on a team that already watched his team surrender 38 points to an opponent suggests that the very same opponent will now not be able to come within three touchdowns of that score.

I have no problem with him thinking that's funny. It's just the fact I saw Brady evolve through the season and become more and more arrogant. If it was week 12 I see his response being way different. The part I find funny is his "golden boy" image no longer fits him.

Besides - to defend Plax - seems like it always is a defensive struggle in the big games when two strong offensive teams face each other. Yeah - he probably did predict too low, but he was on the spot and probably just threw the number out there.

That's true. But he helped make that public persona with his press conferences and refusing to do commercials without his offensive line.

Then at the seasons end - some of his remarks were far from the way he used to talk and handle them over the years.

I get the feeling that if Wes Welker insinuated that Peyton Manning and the Colts would be held to a mere 17 points and Peyton scoffed in response... everyone around here would perceive Welker to be the jackass and Peyton to be completely justified.

Dunno.

Sure - you have some really hardcore Manning defenders... but a lot of people here are realistic..

Plus that scenario really doesn't compare. It's definetly not just VN that believes he was being an arrogant prick for acting that way.

If any of us were invovled in an epic failure as public as this, we'd all go hide under rocks too.

Because Peyton and Brady are nothing alike?

They are both wildly successful QBs that head up two of the most potent offenses the NFL has ever seen. To suggest that either one of them will score a mere 17 points is pretty arrogant. What was Tom supposed to do? Say, "Yeah, that seems pretty reasonable. We aren't likely to score more than three times. Good call, Plaxico." The only thing Tom did was suggest that his offense would not suck. It wasn't like he said he'd hang 40 on the G-Men.

No, that's not what I really expected him to do. I explained what I expected him to do - the same thing he had said all year when stuff like that happened. His generic "the game is played on the field not in words" response. But he obviously went away from that and was acting cocky - now he's hiding from it.

His response came off arrogant no matter how you look at it.

As for Peyton and Brady being alike - I was talking more about their personalities.

I still don't see how predicting that someone will score 17 points is arrogant when your on the spot like Plax was at the time. The Pats couldn't match that anyway... both the Pats and the Colts have matched that or have come up short of it several times. It's sports - nothing is garunteed.
