Yea, but we have beat UT the last 4 out of 5 by an average of like 20 points. Literally.

Including a 30 point blowout this year.

Like I said, that's the only thing you have to brag about.

Let me know when you get a Top 10 recruiting class in football. Actually, let me know when you pull a Top 25 class.

Let me know when your team finishes in the Top 10 in football for a season.

Notice that Tennessee has achieved all of the above in men's basketball.

You've never played in the SEC Championship game, and you haven't been to a BCS-level bowl since Bear Bryant ditched your basketball school.

We can win big at your game, and we can beat you at your game.

Considering Tennessee basketball doesn't have what is considered a historical program to the affect of Kentucky basketball or Tennessee football, and the fact that Pearl consistently won before coming to Tennessee, no.

then what are you talking about?

No, you're here, because this is the ONLY thing you have to brag about, and this is your favorite place to do it. On to another year of listening to you guys thump your chests about going all the way.

HAHA CLASSIC and so true.

Wait, a minute. You want to argue that UT is a football school excelling in basketball. What qualifications do you use? Oh, you will use the last five years success in roundball as a parameter. And rightfully so. But using the same time line, I hardly believe UT would be considered a football school. In five seasons, UT has finished only twice in the Top 25 (one of those times 25th). No Top Tens. The same Top Tens you inquire about UK. UTs football record over these 5 seasons in 36-27, compared to UKs 33-30 during the same time. 3 games difference averages out to less than 1/2 game per year. So UT averages 7 wins per season compared to UK's 6.5.
It appears UT is a basketball school posing as a football school.

During the same 5 years our basketball program sucked, and there is no way around that. Before this season, we didn't finish in the rankings the last 3 years. So by your same formula, are you going to say that UK isn't a basketball school now? That UK is a basketball school posing as a football school because we made 4 crappy bowl games?

UT's football tradition is as rich as any, and you can't use a 5 year formula to try and discredit that. 4 straight bowl games with near .500 records while playing a pre-conference schedule that amounts to a Division II ranking isn't that great. or "33-30" game margin is flawed, because if we played the same schedule it would be much different. During those years you mention where UT didn't finish in the rankings, they still pulled in elite talent. Elite players don't normally go play for basketball schools.

You could say that we are a basketball school excelling at football, and that wouldn't be a totally false statement. But saying UT is not a football school is moronic. Have you ever been in the state of tennessee?

That's completely ridiculous. You arbitrarily used stats that fit your argument. Compare average attendance. What about which program generates the most revenue? That tells you all you need to know.

I wasn't aware that losing to a team for 25 straight years can make your program somehow comparable to them.

.

The main difference there is that half or more of TN wins don't come against teams like Carson-Newman. You all win several crap non-conference games and lose virtually every SEC game. You guys basically get a bowl game by default.
