Brandon Willis- the Vols have life again

Scenario? With the Carroll absence, DT Uko was interested in us and hypotherotically renew his interest and want to commit, will that make Willis expendable since he was going to be a DT anyway? Just an inquiry, just wanted to see others' thought.

I was wondering about Uko as well...sure would be nice to get Willis back AND Uko or Quarles, Floyd, or Whitaker.
We need a solid 2 deep DT rotation from this class, and I think J. Smith might even be looked at as an LB once he gets here. I read that somewhere today, and since he's currently 230lbs...they may be able to plug him in if we continue to struggle getting the LB's we want. Willis is more ready to play at DE at his current weight, and J. Smith more at LB. Both could see time at those positions if the staff really wanted to get them on the field ASAP.

Might be great to see J. Smith take McCoy's place at OLB...or Stripling if we can swing him, and able to step up into the DE role if needed. Remember Leonard Little going from DE to MLB back to DE.

Mannnnnnnnnn! Don't mention a player can be like Leonard Little, he was my Michael Jordan in High school and I was a UT his Sr. Year! Him and Big Al hanged out all the time! I also would love to have Willis and Uko but Willis seems more feasible.

From UNC mod (Scout)...

When four-star defensive tackle Brandon Willis departed for San Antonio at the beginning of this week, he had planned to announce his decision to enroll at UNC during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Heavy pressure from Tennessee-bound prospects throughout the week has led him to second-guess his decision. Now, multiple sources are telling Inside Carolina that Willis’ college destination is “up in the air” between Tennessee and UNC.

Despite speculation that Willis' father is influencing the decision, he has told his son that this is his decision and he'll support it. Meanwhile, Willis' father has been in constant contact with UNC throughout the week.

FWIW as of friday Farrell has changed his prediction for Willis once again back to UNC because his dad is "in his ear."

Sounds like his Dad is pressuring for UNC. Brandon will probably choose UNC, but at least we have a shot.

Pastor did you ever come to Jeff Hall era FCA?

There may be more confidence on our side vs. UNC's...but confidence is no substitute for being right :). I'm reminded of one Mr. Jeff Luc....late-game changes can come all too easily.

sounds like it was more of his dad that fed into the Butch Davis lies about NCAA and Willis is Vol in his heart...lets hope the staff closed the deal last night with Willis dad or that Willis really gets to make his own decision

Willis to UNC. He wants to go to Tennessee, parents want him at UNC. They won out. Gotta feel bad for the kid.

I just can't see a recruit of his caliber passing up the chance to play for NFL coaches and a program that has a distinguished winning history. UNC is a basketball school and it's likely going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

One thing I never understand is why the parents always try and influence the kid's decision or make it for them, if I was a football recruit my parents would say it was my decision and be done with it...
