are they selling subscriptions? why will these two miss spring practice?

GVXtra has been selling subscriptions to their "premium" content for a few months now. It's just another failure of the KN$.

If the article has any relevant info in it, it will be summarized and posted here, surely.

I refuse to pay for info that will make its way over here eventually. If VN ever goes to a pay site.....BYE BYE. I hope they never make that mistake because Im sure I'm not the only one that feels that way.

No chance. The only positive of making this a premium site would be getting rid of you. :p

I kid fade. I kid.

Seriously, we have no intention of ever making this a pay site.

I want VN to stay free too. But let's pull our heads out of self-centeredness for a moment. To put up and maintain a site like VN costs time and money, lots of time and money, additionally, it costs LOTS of TIME and MONEY. Far as I know, nobody is paying Freak to do this. OK, it seems he might be making a little on the side via ads, maybe a bit of sponsoring but it can't be very much. We who frequent his site, if you want to be bluntly honest, are leeches taking advantage of Freak's good graces. Don't feel bad, what I'm saying applies to all of us, me included.

Further, Freak actually takes time to maintain the site. I've seen some other sites where the originator set it up and then seems to either disappear while links, moderating, appearance and all else, just goes to hell to put it mildly. Or the originator acts like an almighty pile of (insert expletive here) just to flaunt his or her power. We're darn lucky we have not just VN but someone like Freak running it. So if he starts charging would I stay? That depends on how much he charges. It also depends on whether or not he collects charges via PayPal. I simply don't trust PayPal having had a few fraudulent incidents hit me where it hurt. And how hard they worked against me to recover what was taken. But yeah, I probably would stay otherwise. To be honest, I'd probably stay because I used to run a FidoNet BBS. So I have an idea of the time and energy and money it takes to do something like this. OK, Fade, knowing you and a few others here, proceed to slice and dice me for this post.

These pay sites (Volquest/247) are called for profit businesses. They invest dollars to obtain information and write stories that are of interest to fans. I pay $100 bucks a year to Volquest which I feel is reasonable. If you prefer to work for free more power to you but most people enjoy making $$$. Quit complaining....

Ha Ha! You run the best site in college sports, and that's the truth. Thanks for all you do.

No slicing a dicing here. I agree with your post for the most part. But I don't think its self-centeredness to choose not to remain a member if I am suddenly required to pay.

Gotta agree with that. It is a personal choice.

Everyone needs to quote this post for the record. Just in case... you know... it's ever needed as evidence. :)

I paid for Scout for several yrs., and it is amazing how much better this message board is set up compared to Scout's. Of course I haven't seen it in a while; might be better now.

Hey everybody, I have an idea. Let's all put forth our best cases why VN should be a pay site, and try and convince Freak to start charging all us freeloaders! Winner pays first. Ready? Let's go! :loco:
