If the ncaa were really true to the student-athlete credo students signing sports scholarships would be required to stay four years, with the exceptions of flunking out or hardship cases subject to review. :twocents:

This. 100%. Although I don't know how it could be enforced. Big money rules.

I pretty much think CP is gone. Not sure if he is even interested in improving his grades.
TB draft stock took a nose dive this year and there is just no point in going early if you don't go in the first, lose too much money. Another year gives him the potential to do much better.
JH has the toughest choice of all, some have him going in the first, but a lot have him second round, kind of wishy washy. But if he has family responsibilities, he's gotta do what he's gotta do.

How would they go about gauging their interest before the draft? Are they allowed representation to check around for them? Or Is this something they would have to do themselves

I recall one U.T. player, who was a junior. I can't recall his name though. He reached out to Archie Maning and asked him to talk to some NFL G.M.'s to gauge his draft value.

So, yes, the school can hook him up with that. In fact, there is a man on the staff who is the NFL rep. for the team. He played linebacker to U.T. in the late 60's and is now on the full time staff.

I am not sure what an NFL rep. at U.T. would do, other than schedule the on campus "Pro Day" where scouts come to watch our draft eligible players work out...

Jan 13th sounds like the right deadline to declare bc i think it coincides with the start of the spring semester. CP is projected 11th overall, so I don't think staying will benefit him much more. JH does have a daughter and I think that will ultimately sway him to declare. ( a friend of mine works with his baby mama, not throwing this out bc i have any insider info just think its cool. She says she goregeous btw) I think JH would benefit the most from returning to school bc he projected 2nd round and he has top 10 capability. too many dropped balls. TB projected late 2nd, early 3rd but i think he should enter the draft just bc its a weak QB class and why would he spend one more year to learn a new system that might not showcase his skills. just my .02

How do so many people know about CP's grades? I'm a student and I would be pissed if my grades were common knowledge.

I'm pretty sure that the university has strict guidelines on academic privacy.

"Word gets around" isn't an answer, either. People claim to know what kind of grades this kid gets when all you are doing is gossiping and potentially embarrassing him while calling him stupid.

This board can be fun at times and then it fills up with liars and bullies. Ridiculous.

Agree it should not be discussed on a public forum.

I'm not sure if Bray stuck around next season he would be a starting qb here much less NFL.

I doubt even he thinks he would be a starter as a rookie in the NFL. However, it is idiotic to think he would be anything but a distant frontrunner for the starting position here were he to stay. I didn't see Worley on Kiper's board.

maybe they'll announce in a joint presser in Vegas, surrounded by a bunch of top dollar agents and beautiful women.

Where is CP ranked as the #11 player in the mock drafts. I've looked at over ten and I don't see any of him even in first round?

Hunter has a kid, so he needs $. CP wouldn't of been eligible for the bowl due to grades. And since we have a new coach, I just want to start fresh and not be Bray dependent IMO.
I don't think that would be the critical factor, if he's not projected as a 1st Rd'er. The money difference, as well as expectations to start, are immense. In fact, just look at Chris Johnson's initial contract, taken at No.24 overall (late 1st Rd). He was making peanuts compared to Adrian Peterson, who was drafted in the top 10. BIG disparity just in the 1st Rd alone. If NFL scouts and analysts tell him that another year would likely move him into the 1st Rd if he showed improvement, then his family will likely want him to do what is best for him. They will likely take care of his kid in the mean time.

Honestly, I don't think anyone of these players will be staying.

Lets look at the PROS/CONS for staying.

PROS - One more year at Tennessee and possibly graduate.
- One more chance to improve your draft stock

CONS - Learning a whole new scheme
- Adapting to brand new coaches
- Going back to classes
- Chances of injury or/and your stock is lowered

Here are the PROS/CONS for declaring into DRAFT

PROS - Possibility of playing in the NFL
- Possibility of getting paid for what you enjoy
- Chance to prove yourself in COMBINE
- No injuries prior to draft day

CONS - Find another way to play in the NFL or for another football league
- Find another job

First, no you didn't, and if you did he would not talk to you. Second, it ain't exactly a limb yer going out on.

I was out at whiskey dick's a new bar on the strip, I said, " you better work at the combines to get that top 10 pick" and he said, " I will try I will try" and I said "so you are declaring? and he laughed and tapped on my shoulder.

these athletes aren't as hard to talk to as you guys think.

I think its all about Coach Jones selling them on the program.

And all about what draft grades/projections they receive from the service (i cant remember its name/title, but i think there's one they can send it to and get a grade/projection)
