The Sports Animal in Knoxville is reporting that Randy Sanders has offered his resignation. No word if Phil Fulmer has accepted it.

Randy Sanders also will NOT be making play calls against Notre Dame. Fulmer will be making offensive play calls in that game.

A team meeting at 2:00pm today is supposed to inform the players of ANY news.

All hell has broke loose here in K-town. Press conference set for 3pm EST on the hill. One source states that Sanders will indeed step down as OC, and that Trooper Taylor will step in as interim OC. However, Fulmer will be calling the plays for the ND game.

Here's my question, if Sanders leaves, who is everyone going to bash?

Hey, let's not forget that these are the SAME PLAYS out of the SAME FORMATIONS we have run SINCE 1998.

I have no doubt that Coach Fulmer has finally realized things are really screwed up. Unfortunately, he will have plenty of time to think about it while we are home for the holidays. Seriously, I don't think we can beat Memphis/Vandy/Kentucky at this point.

It's a real shame, too. I just hate it for the kids.

I'm not saying Sanders doesn't need to go, but I do think he should be fired for what HE does....I still don't think what you're seeing is Randy's offense...it's Fulmer's. And why would you bring Cutcliff back to run the offense-recall there was a coo to get him out, as well..

But at least Cutcliffe can coach a QB.  Sanders can't.

Hence one of our biggest problems this year.

Sanders has offered his resigination to Phillip Fulmer, Jimmy Ray Stephans has been fired, and Pat Washington will leave at the end of the season. The resigination from Sandars has been offered for the OC position only. Sanders will be reassigned to the RB coaches position, and Trooper will move to the WR position. Coach Cut will come back to the box. That is from inside sources this morning.....The 100.3 is reporting this as well

Discussions on Cutcliffe are on getting a medical clearance from his doctor. Once that is secured all bets are off.

Personally this job is an uphill battle that could kill Cut. Hopefully enough cleaning will take place to make his job less stressful.

Where is the source on this? That's a lot more than I've heard reported anywhere. I'd like to hear the thinking behind moving Sanders to RB's and Trooper to WR's.

Jimmy Hyams reported it on sports animal and pretty much said what you've read in this thread. That's all I've heard about it so far.

Sanders Expected to Step Down as UT Offensive Coordinator

Sanders Expected to Step Down as UT Offensive Coordinator

Tennessee Coach Phillip Fulmer is expected to announce later this afternoon that Randy Sanders will step down as the Vols' offensive coordinator, although Sanders will stay on staff for the remainder of the season as quarterbacks coach.

Fulmer will take over the play-calling duties and offensive coordinator responsibilities for the rest of the seson. Fulmer and Sanders have had ongoing discussions about this change for the last two days.

After Saturday's 16-15 loss to South Carolina, the Vols are ranked 108th nationally out of 117 Division I-A programs for scoring offense. The South Carolina loss marked the first time in the Phillip Fulmer era that the Vols have lost three straight games

Just now (12:50) Hyams special report: Sanders offerred resignation, Fulmer likely to call plays this week, meeting at 2:00, no word on Cutcliff yet -- awaiting clearance from MD before any decision on coaching anywhere.

Nothing mentioned about any of the other position coaches.

Since you submitted this photo, are you trying to say that the coaches made the decision that Foster should drop the ball just before going into the endzone?

Sanders called the play and the line opened the hole. Foster carried the ball and kicked out of his own hands with his knee.

So, obviously Sanders' call must have been for Foster to drop the ball. The logic must go that Fulmer must have iinstructed Sanders to call this play and have Foster drop the ball.

Sounds completely obsurd, doesn't it. So does this picture.
