I agree with a prior post that the way to go is let CPF take over the OLINE coaching in tandem with the tight end coach, that and CPF calling the plays if Coach Cut isnt ready. Im hopin the UT brain trust is scrambling looking for a high grade special teams coach to hire :biggrin2:

Since you submitted this photo, are you trying to say that the coaches made the decision that Foster should drop the ball just before going into the endzone?

Sanders called the play and the line opened the hole.  Foster carried the ball and kicked out of his own hands with his knee.

So, obviously Sanders' call must have been for Foster to drop the ball.  The logic must go that Fulmer must have iinstructed Sanders to call this play and have Foster drop the ball.

Sounds completely obsurd, doesn't it.  So does this picture.

How did a picture and a quote that had nothing to do with the coaching staff become such? I think you read way too much into my quote. It was a general one for the entire team because that picture sums up our entire offensive season - mediocrity.

It was reported in TriCities news that Coach Cut wanted to come back, but wouldn't if it meant RS job... so the resignation and demotion to WR coach, which he had done in '91 & '92. Cut is then expected to accept the OC job, back in the capacity he was in when he left. I think coach Fulmer may be more hands on /w the OL ???

This will mean nothing if we do not hire a new OC from outside the program.

You are 1000% correct on that one. Otherwise, we'll have another mini-me Fulmer callling plays to run up the middle and throw the 6 yard "deep ball".

On a different note, we're not going to miss Riggs. I think my wife's cat could probably tackle him even though he's been neutered. The cat, I mean.

Why??? What are we giving up??? 15 points a game??? The future starts today. If the O is any worse than before, more heads will roll at the end of the season.

I like everybody else knew that Randy had to go. But, we're talking about a man who was/is Tennessee through and through. This is a UT guy who was not able to be successful.I feel no joy about that. This is how it had to be, but no, I'm not dancing any jigs....

By the way "SportsAnimal's" Wilkerson and Hyams are saying no position coaches other than Sanders are to be announced today...

I agree 100%. If we do not go outside the organization I'm not sure things will change.

The same system will be run, and I think it can be successful if executed properly. Not the most fun to watch in the world, but effective. Whomever comes in need to demand excellence or bench some asses.

This is good for us all. I'm just glad to see that someone is pissed about this besides the fans. The boosters and administration are getting closer to the truth.

The wheels are set in motion.....Now that his "blame blanket" is gone. Fulmer won't be far behind. Unless he improves this team significantly. his head will be next on the chopping block.

I'm not saying Sanders doesn't need to go, but I do think he should be fired for what HE does....I still don't think what you're seeing is Randy's offense...it's Fulmer's.  And why would you bring Cutcliff back to run the offense-recall there was a coo to get him out, as well..

Amen brother.

One aspect of Fulmer's failure in sports psych has been his on-again, off-again treatment of his O.C.s It impaired Cutcliffe (therefore we slammed Cut) and it's impaired Sanders.

IMHO it would be a mistake- or at least unfair- to fire Sanders, because we've never really gotten the truly unfettered version. In fact, Sanders actually ran, more than Fulmer, the '98 NC game O.

The coaching problem isn't simple, at least not so simple dumping Sanders will solve it. If you had to simplify it though, it would come down to Fulmer's refusal to admit that he (and the coaching team he has assembled) aren't good at the psych side of the game.

What we need isn't to scapegoat and dump somebody, it's for Fulmer to admit some responsibility, and therefore add something or somebody to his coaching team who has the missing talent for sideline psychological leadership which he and his coaching ensemble currently lack.

If we just dump Sanders, and/or others to satisfy the current bloodlust, all we're going to get is the same old, same old in the end. Fulmer has to admit responsibility, learn, adapt, and add the missing piece to his coaching team.

We need something new more than axing someone old.
