With a new coaching staff comes new evaluations of our players.

I am going to predict Jacob Carter and Jason Croom will be two breakout players for us next year.

What say you Volnation?

Just reading this threads title, Croom popped in my head. I know Devrin Young hasnt lived upto the hype coming in. What are your thoughts on him? It seems like the "Perimeter Play" that comes along with CBJ's offense, I think this may get him more touches. I think Dev and Pig are really going to benefit with this coaching change.

I never heard of any hype for Devrin when he was being recruited, mostly it was people saying he wasn't an SEC level player.

That being said Devrin should have the kick
return duties all to himself with Patterson leaving and hopefully we have a special teams unit next year that actually punt blocks well enough to do something besides fair catch. Devrin ran very well at times (Mississippi game he looked very good sans the fumble), but he had two very effective RBs in front of him and there was some talk about him being in the dog house late in the year.

I don't know what to expect out of Devrin honestly.

Nathan Peterman will be a stud QB under Jones. He is going to explode on the scene.

Don't count out Worley. This is the same type of system he ran in HS that made him Gatorade player of the year. In other words, Worley thrived in this type of system already.

Dev and Pig are a given to blow up with our wr's leaving. I sure hope a qb steps up b/c I don't see Bray staying. On d Randolph and McNeil are poised to step up after a terrible secondary for the last 2yrs. I hope a few more of the big guys get it together on the d-line we need a go to pass rusher and someone to hold the edge.

I will be interested to see whether Danny O'Brien can make an impact, especially with the change to a 4-3 D.

Good call I think he is over looked by so many after being thrown to the wolves as a freshman. He may not have Bray's arm but he isn't on the news for throwing bottles at cars. On his high school tapes he seems to have good anticipation but I don't know about his wheels.

The new truck load of four and five star freshmen that the super brand named new HC is certain to bring in. Can't wait for BJ to steal all those from Florida and Ga and SC and LSU once he shows them the four championship rings in six seasons. I feel sorry for the rest of the SEC.

Q. Watson will do great in a spread offense with his speed. Look for him to win starting job imo. Also pig in the slot will be a great fit in cbj's offense.

The difference in speed between Watson and Neal is probably minimal at best.

Would you rather have Dooley telling his players we are not very good right now. I think that had alot to do with the players not likeing Dooley.

Yep, but I felt the presser was a little over the top. Kept saying body of work, body of work. I prefer actions not words and we will see. Just want to temper all the unrealistic thinking. This is the SEC and most HCs in this conference are just as motivated and with great resumes. I think I read somewhere he is now being paid as a top ten coach, I expect top ten performance. We will see.

The difference in explosiveness is not though

Maybe, but I didnt see any of the backs on our roster exploding as it was mostly the other teams players running for 60 yard scores.

I just don't see the 4th string guy jumping ahead of Lane and Neal who both looked good IMO

No, this has nothing to do with Dooley he is the past. This is about our new coach and future. He is not competing with Dooley in the SEC.

It doesn't take a sixty yard run to gauge someones explosiveness, you can tell that he hits the hole with an explosiveness that mirrors a back like Andre Ellington more so than other backs. Will he "jump" lane and neal? No, but Butch Jones showed with players like Ralph David Abernathy that he will get the best athletes on the field and put them in positions to succeed. So, it is not out of the question that he will get substantial playing time along with lane and neal.
