Precisely why Kippy Brown should've been named interim HC ala Luke Whatever-his-name at Ohio State.

But that's a different thread.

So you approve of hiring Golden??

I would be skeptical of a Golden hire. He worked wonders with Temple and got a bad situation at the U. I think he could do well here but probably not quickly enough to make our fanbase happy.

That's not the point. Immediately dismissing a hire is ridiculous. Hence the problems all this Gruden talk is having on our fanbase. Anything less than Gruden (which is likely IMO) is going to cause an uproar.

...maybe. I agree its going to be loud, but if you take a look at our games this year we lost with poor coaching. We couldn't ever get past someone like Bama, but we were looking at a 10 game ceiling with a different coach. Florida, UGA, USC, MSU and Vandy all could have flipped with a better gameplan and acutal adjustments. The skill won't be there next year, but improvement will happen and that will quell the fanbase.

Our new HC just has to be measurably better than Dooley to get the ball rolling.

I have a difficult time believing that Hart was able to get the concession from Cheek on AD $ without booster backing. I assume that Hart and the shot callers are on the same page. If it turns out that a group of boosters was ready to serve up Gruden and Hart instead hires someone on the level of Golden, they might as well cancel the program.

Hart would be chased out of town by the angry mob. Deservedly.

I can't wait until they hire a new coach. All of this ridiculous Gruden talk is dumb.

Has he ever about any job opening he's rumored to be taking? Its almost a certainty Arky offered, and he never publicly squashed it. Nor has he said anything about any NFL opening.

He probably won't say anything, we will all know only when he takes his next job.
Yes. He has come out and publicly squashed rumors tying him to a job. Miami. So try again.

After the whole Shannon and Lovie debacles here, how does anyone believe any of this? And not only that, how does everyone go and attack the media. Believe what you want but I certainly hope people eat crow when they're wrong, here on VN or the media. Until then, it's silly to take sides and go all in with something as cloudy as the current coaching search. I find it hard to believe that any kind of agreement is in place. If there was, somebody would have written about it. I hope we hire Gruden but let's just try to take the information floating around with a grain of salt. If you don't, you're going to get burned and look like a sucker.

Stop hanging on Hubbs' every word. Fulmer is gone and so is Hammy. When the Fulmer regime left Hubbs lost a lot of inside knowledge. He was getting back on track with Dooley but once again he is on the outside looking in with not much more than a connected fans knowledge of the inner workings.

He's good at inserting himself into the conversation but has nothing on what's actually happening.

I'm tired of every poster claiming they know somebody that knows somebody about Gruden being a done deal. Is this even true? If this is true why hasn't ESPN confirmed it? Also what does Brent Hubbs say about our chances with Gruden?

I posted this to refrain from posting in the Gruden Cliff Notes.

I know absolutely no one at UT if that makes you feel any better.

Why is that? Most if not all people agree with that sentiment. Look at how our fanbase reacted when Kiffin left us right before NSD. No coach with integrity would screw their school over and piss off their fan base. Not to mention, clean up a recruiting class with about 2 weeks to go. We hired Dooley like 2-3 days after Kiffin left. Real coaching searches last longer than that but we had no choice because we had to keep our recruiting class in tact.

Hammy didn't understand making a good hire superseded ANY recruiting class. Taking 3 days to make the hire was just ineptitude.

Someone who is supposedly demanding a 10 mill per year coaching budget doesn't really care about us.....sorry to have to break that to you.

Didn't I see a post where Bama's is that high?

Also, Hyam's said this morning that with new tv deals and coming SEC network, that each member of conference should be getting an additional $15-20 million in annual revenue. I think Hyam's is a wet blanket douche type, but he's usually good with numbers...if he says something positive is going to happen, I would up it by 20-30% because he is so negative.

Also laughed when he said 70/30 wanted CPF fired and now has flipped to 70/30 want him hired. He misses his pipeline to real info...

Swain just tweet that he has converted Hubbs, more details at 10 on their show?

Hubbs wore a bow tie.

Hart is going to hire the best coach that he can get. If we don't get any of the so called "Top Choices", then Hart was, more than likely told by them, they weren't interested. The Fan Base better be ready for a Sykes/Taggart type hire, if that's the case.

Don't forget that all these "Top Choices" are looking for a big pay check at the end of the season. I truly suspect that most of them that have put out "feelers" on the Tennessee job are really looking for bigger paychecks from their present schools, not Tennessee.

Hubbs just said not everyone wanted Gruden. The fans did, but not everyone. And it was going to be interesting how the press was handled, if we didn't go after Gruden enough, or not enough money?

That is probably the truth. Just because a bunch of fans claim the AD, boosters, and Peyton Manning wanted Jon Gruden does not make it the truth. If the rumors are correct about all his demands needing to be net before he even talks about an offer, I would have not even contacted him.
