I shall parlay with that YOU arent giving Ainge a chance. You just see that he is getting more playtime and bashing everyone for it. So are you trying to say you dont think Ainge is that great a quarterback and we should put in Shaeffer. After the UNLV game i was a huge Schaeffer supporter, and thought he could be a great QB. The sad truth is since that game, his play had deteriorated, possibly due to pressure to outperform Ainge. The INT he had against Auburn pretty much sealed it for me, as he should have been able to throw a rope to the reciever, yet the reason he was picked off was because he threw a floater. This was after the prior weeks of have very little pocket presence. By that I mean he doesnt seem to be able to feel the rush, and get the ball away before it hits him. His fumbles have come from being blindsided by blitzers he never even saw. This is a twofold problem, as now he has become too edgy when he is at QB, and oft takes off when he "thinks" he feels the pocket collapsing. Look back at all his plays the past few games (not that many to have to go through). Too many times he was stepping up into the pocket, then trying to run it because he percieved wrongly that it was collapsing on him... sadly when he then headed towards the line of scrimmage he WAS vulnerable to the defenders who usually sacked him. Had he sat back in the pocket he would have had a better view of the field, and could have hit his recievers who usually were open. As it stands i think we are trying to put a square peg in a round hole here. He would be great as a reciever and even offers that option to use him in a fake reverse type situation. As a QB i think he is average at best. Somehow he is going to have to learn to feel the pressure, anticipate the rushes and get rid of the ball or cover it up before getting hit. Right now he just isnt doing it and that is just too dangerous for the team.
That said, we have a few games coming up where we should, and I emphasize should because i think all of us know about UT's ability to play DOWN to their opponents and have huge letdowns, be able to run up the score, and this provides plenty of time to put Schaeffer in and work him harder than he has been the past few weeks. Pray for blowouts.
lastly i think it really all comes down to one true thing. Who is the one who brings the team together? So far all i have seen quote wise from the players was positives about Ainge, how he has spread the ball around, etc. Your teammates seem to work harder when you have a bond with them, and will make you look better than you sometimes are, cause they know in a few plays, you are going to do the same for them.
ps Anyone been watching the Falcons this year? they are winning IN SPITE of Vick IMO. Not many Atlanta recievers are happy, and frankl; I am hugely annoyed because I have had Peerless Price on my fantasy team and he has yet to do crap because all Vick can ever seem to throw to is the Tight End when he needs to bail out one of his runs...
