Seems to be unraveling in South Bend.

During his post-game press conference, Kelly said that coaching had “nothing to do” with the team’s performance in the 38-35 home loss to Duke. Instead, he argued that the players’ lack of energy and passion was to blame. His comments come after weeks of Notre Dame fans calling for the job of defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, whose unit has struggled massively this season. “Fire VanGorder” chants broke out at Notre Dame Stadium during and after tonight’s loss.

That answer did not impress Daniels, who took to Twitter to subtweet his former head coach hard.

Sad when a head guy looks to place blame on everyone but himself once things go south. Typical for him tho🐸

Notre Dame announces Brian VanGorder has been fired as defensive coordinator. Defensive analysts Greg Hudson will assume DC responsibilities. Notre Dame had given up 35+ points in 5 of its last 6 games, dating to last year

ND has unlimited amount of money to buyout and get whoever they want --- getting Kelley out wont be a problem

Just because he had followed Kelly everywhere up to TN doesn't mean they're gonna call CBJ.

Ive been very critical of Butch but even I don't think he walks away from Tennessee to go there.

This is so true its ridiculous. They'll send out offer sheets to every top candidate until someone bites.

I know - but Butch is an upper-Midwestern guy, is Catholic (yes, that matters) and might have "led an SEC team to New Year's Six bowl" on his resume by season's end.

They absolutely would want to talk to him.

Not worried. Butch isn't leaving the program he rebuilt to coach that dumpster fire.

Recent thread on Volnation asked who is the most overrated coach in college football. I said its Brian Kelly. I think this season is karma for installing turf at Notre Dame. That place should always be thick grass with the lines in the endzone.

Didn't he say some not so great things about the kid that passed trying to film his practice for him?

His name was Declan Sullivan...i remember the name b/c I fish with a buddy with the same name. Kelly has proven to be a dou*** bag but I never heard of hem being negative at all FWIW. But I could have missed something.

Notre Dame fans need to figure out that they are "a" program in college football, not "the" program. Much of their fanbase is still stuck in the 1940s or early 1990s.

They've been a completely average program since the mid-1990s. That doesn't mean they can't have good seasons, but they aren't going to be able to compete for national titles every single year.

1998 NC is not mid 90s

Going to the fiesta bowl in 99 was not mid 90s

Winning the sec east in 2001 was not mid 90s.

Stomping a mud hole in Michigan was not mid 90s.

We have sucked for 11 years. 2005 to now.

Know your facts!
