Brian Kelly staying at Cincinnati

It doesn't matter if you buy it or not... it's the truth.

While I don't see Coach Kelly roaming the Bearcat sidelines for the long haul, the UC administration is pouring mega dollars into upgrading facilities and bolstering the recruiting budget. He'll stay put for another couple of years.

How is it the truth when sources close to UT are the ones saying he was trying to rush the process? And we kind of backed away because of that? And they also reported he basically stopped trying to get a deal done when the ND rumors started?

Your sources are no more credible then the ones we heard.

Sounds like he's just saying that because Tennessee and ND passed on him. If ND comes knocking again next year he won't be saying the same thing.

I agree. When another Division 1 school offers with a big payday, he's gone.

Define "big payday". He's going to make close to 2M this year with the Bearcats after incentives. His base was 800K and he'll be getting a big raise.

Don't know how long he'll stay, but he's happy at Cincinnati and I don't think he'll take a leap based soley on money. I don't think he was hog wild about Tennessee, but I don't know that. His kids like the Queen City and are involved in athletics. He has a ton of talent to recruit in Ohio and surrounding areas.

I'm not so sure Tennessee's a better job right now, as crazy as that sounds.

Kelly would have taken the UT job if offered, at $3 mil per year, no question.

I heard him interviewed a few weeks ago, and he wouldn't commit to staying at Cincinnati, all he kept saying is he had no plans of leaving, the first better offer that comes his way ... he is gone.

just like Pearl wouldn't stay at UT when other jobs at basketball schools arose... Oh wait

Are you really comparing the UT MBB program vs. Cinny FB program? If Pearl were at a basketball program comparable to Cinncy's football program then he would also be looking to leave. They are not on the same level.

Sounds just like the interview I heard. He seems to be leveraging.

I know that seems like the "new age" opinion to have based on what has gone on lately. But if you think those two programs are even close in stature and appeal then you need to seek medical attention.

He sounded like he was doing more than leveraging himself, he sounded like he was looking to land a job at major program while his stock is up

When I filled out the common application for dental school I had to write a personal statement-this was the same thing.

I don't think that at all. I'm referring to Cincinnati being in a weaker conference, having less demand on the coaching position, and having a pool of recruiting talent within the area. I think the Cincinnati program is on its way to being what Louisville came up to under Petrino. At least I hope so.

Coaching at cincinnati in a weak conference, before quiet, half filled stadiums, v. the SEC, 110,000 maniac fans, top competition, media frenzy, hot chicks galore all over campus, etc... No comparison!

True, but isn't it a 35K seat stadium?

Yes. It is being expanded though. They are also building an indoor practice facility. Cincinnati is doing what is necessary to keep the man. Kudos to them for that.

At least they're trying. Many schools would just give in, maybe it will work for a few years. Even if they could only keep him for a couple of years, the effect he would have on the football culture would last for years to come.

Nippert Stadium is one of the oldest stadiums in college football (I think it ranks 5th). They've been playing there since the turn of the century.
