No doubt. I think Joe is a great catcher. He's better defensively than Mac (although Brian is underrated in this department) and the pure hitter/OBP guy. But Brian is a better run producer and power hitter, and also Mac has played been a steady rock of health. McCann also doesn't have the help of the DH, which Mauer has greatly benefited.

No. And you honestly can't really claim that injury problems causes one to be worse than the other. It's not a matter of if a catcher has injury problems, but when. McCann is solid and in fact a helluva baseball player. But he's not the best in the league.

You guys are all high. Yadi is the best in the business. Hits for average, cannon arm. Heck, he would hit 30 HRs a year if LaRussa would give him the green light. LaRussa wants to use his speed, though, instead.

Defensively? Sure. It's not even a contest offensively, though. Yadier's career OPS+ is 85. McCann's is 123. McCann's career oWAR is 21. Yadier's? 4.1.

Defensively, Yadier's career WAR is 7.5, while McCann's is -1.7.

McCann's hitting advantage far outweighs Yadier's defensive advantage.
