Brian Williams

BW is one of my favorite vols on this team. It seems like he has the most fun on the court compared to the other players. Almost everytime the camera is on him he is smiling.

Plus, this guy is 6'11" and 300 pounds. Thats something to smile about when you play basketball.

He just had one of his most complete games of the season against Florida. He was running hard up and down the floor and was part of the offense more. When BW is playing well, it opens up a lot more. I wish he would become just a bit more aggressive down low but his progress over the past 2 games is promising.

COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH WHAT YOU JUST SAID! :clapping:

It's funny I thought to myself a couple weeks back that Williams was playing really soft, but my thoughts have really changed. He is really playing agressive ball and finishing farely well.

I'll agree with everyone on B Dubs efforts. I don't necessarily agree with RTRandy about the lazy passes. I think he is one of the more accurate passers, see the give and go to Tatum against Florida and the run out pass to Chism against MSU.

Three things I would like to see out of Brian.
1. Dunk the ball dude! I have never seen a big man so fearful of dunking the ball. His passing is so good because he probably has catchers mitts for hands, but explain why he lays up everything even when he has great position
2. Quit doing the "hitch". He catches the ball down low and then basically squats down before going up, take it strong.
3. OK, we get it, you're 6 foot 10 and used to weigh 380. Quit throwing the other team around like rag dolls, this isn't sumo wrestling. I figure he has at least one unnecessary foul per game where he just tosses someone aside.

:good!: I wonder the same thing. I guess I wonder that because I'm just 6' tall and only wish I could dunk, but as long as the big guy is scoring down low then i'm fine with the finesse.

I want Williams to get that D. Blair rebounding mentality but he is becoming more comfortable underneath. He should punish people on the low blocks on offense though.

What do you think was going through the mind of Nick Calathes, when Big Brian
stole the ball of his dribble and took it to the hole? Pretty funny when you think about it.

That play was awesome...What was even more funny is the look on Brian's face when he got the ball and started dribbling down court...he was so suprised...Great play!

A big thanks goes to Hopson as well...He is really starting to shoot the ball better!

I like Brian also, but he needs to stop the damn whining.

I was at the game and he did cry the whole game. However, in his defense, he was getting it hard from the gator fans in the student section. He also tried a couple of times to tell the ref how bad he was getting held and they didn't listen. Overall, it was great to be one of the few in the crowd wearing UT orange. To the lady sitting behind me.... would you SHUT UP!!!!

and the next time he makes the hard switch to a PG, he should still be kicked in the nads.
I don't know why he was at the top of the key on both occasions (maybe a switch), but if the guy is gonna try to drive by ya you might as well see if you can take the ball.

our centers ALWAYS (freaking always) hard switch that screen. So now, everybody we play simply screens with their 5 man and gets their PG on our center. We look stupid and they score too easily. I don't understand why we can't just hedge and recover.

One of the things that gets me is when he gets the ball stolen or knocked away from him down in the post, he needs to be stronger with the ball than that.

But, I look to see a lot of the Chism, BW, Tyler, Hopson lineup against USC. They moved Archie to the 3 and that length will force us to put this lineup out there. It's probably our best right now anyway.

Agreed, BW is still a liability on pick and roll teams.
