Bring back V O L S

Here is the three changes made to the sign just in case some people don't remember what it looked like. I like the new Tron but we should put V O L S letters back maybe at the opposite end.

If they won't bring back the actual signs, what about something like this? Too much?

If it is something that makes the Vols look good, it's not too much.

I used to see the letters burning bright on my way to work across Henley St bridge every night. I think they redesigned them and they are now on top of the jumbotron.

Physics will tell you that those letters will not be supported by the new jumbotron. They left them off the new one because if they tried to put them on, the whole thing would collapse.

I thought you were gonna say you wanted vols on front of the helmets instead of the power T they have now. Because I was gonna agree 100%. I wish they would put the vols on front of helmets. They already have the power T on both sides. No need for a tiny one.

The last I heard of the letters, they were auctioned off and Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants in Knoxville won the bid. (see article)
V-O-L-S letters moving to Calhoun's - News Sentinel Story

6600$ is all they brought? If I would have known that I would have bought them. They would look nice on my barn. Personally I would like them back just image what they would say if the could talk all they games they saw over the years.

Wow, I forgot how tiny the old Jumbotron was...well, compared to the new one.

Almost as fast as our program did....What's gone is gone. Leave it in the past. I like what we have now. (In all aspects of our program)

My buddy and I had our first 4 season tickets together under the "O". About 6 rows from the top. Saw many a drunk tumble down those steep stairs and get carted off by the first aid crew. Took our sons to their 1st game in those seats ... the Florida "Downpour" game.

The 50 Best Games of the Fulmer Era - #9: In The Downpour - Rocky Top Talk

The field was a river and the water running down the upper deck was like a waterfall. We were soaked and never left, but we "whipped dey azz!" Good memories in those seats.

We were 2-3 rows under the V. I was always aware of it looming behind us. I don't know if I was more scared of it falling on us, or of going down the steps. yikes

When they first took them down, they were next to the river across from the stadium. They were there a year or 2, but haven't seen then since. They'd look good on top of TBA

Most anything would help the looks of TBA

The "Neyland T Stadium" looks way better than the V-O-L-S

Yes. It's time to move on. Those old letters looked good in their day. But, just like the buggy whip market, we need to change with the times or be left behind.

I mean, just think of all the young people who will never get to use those monster pee troughs in the old bathrooms. :eek:hmy:

Completely Agree! I love the old VOLS letters! Someone needs to come up with minature versions we can put in the window seals of our homes to electrify the neighborhood during game day.
