Few thoughts:
Nationwide race was pretty good. I don't know what the TV picked up but the racing for awhile for around 10th was really good. You had guys slamming each other every lap for awhile - it was Lamar, Scott Speed, Lagasse, Kesolowski, Bliss, and a few others. Really hard racing and good racing.
Kyle Busch is definitely the most hated driver. The venom people spew at him for just being better than everyone else is funny. Seeing that black car have to go to the back and everyone erupt was interesting. But, just like another black car everyone used to love or hate, once they restarted ALL eyes seemed to be on him. And I saw the highlight on TV of that lap he ran on the restart but in person it was unbelievable. He gets a car at the s/f line then seemingly goes wide open through 1/2 against the wall passing two more and finishes it off by passing two more in the inside into 3 and out of 4. He may not be liked but he WAS the show there at the end. I think he's more like the next Earnhardt or Tim Richmond than anyone really wants to admit. I don't love the guy but good lord he can drive a car.
Joe Nemechek needed to be punted into about the 3rd row of grandstands for the way he was driving. I understand trying to hold guys off for the lead but they done a good job of not crashing the way he was pinching them down and hitting them. Then even after that he became a weapon everywhere he went in the pack.
Speaking of weapon - that poor guy in the 42 car was a lethal weapon. He hit the wall so many times I lost count.
They could have done a MUCH better job with the Celebrity portion of the Legends race. Heck, we thought they were practicing because they sure didn't line them up and throw the green. Not very many cars in either race. The racing between Petree and Evernham was good though in that one race and Riki Ratchman didn't care to sling it around.
The actual Legends race was ok - LD Ottinger put on the best show as he was sideways nearly every lap. I was getting the PRN feed of the producers and stuff and heard them saying Sterling had a Super Late Model car there when everyone else only had a regular Late Model. You could tell he was much faster than the other guys save for Harry Gant and Ottinger. If Gant would not have had a problem he could have ran with him and Ottinger may have had something for him too. Poor Rusty blows all of that $$ not to even be able to get to Marlin's bumper. I hope this becomes a yearly thing and stays confined to BMS for the Legends. Maybe since it went over well they can do it again next year with upwards of 20 cars racing and get some other Legends of BMS in the show like DW and Petty. Then they could throw some more of the old Nationwide winners in there like Rick Mast, Steve Grissom, and Morgan Shepherd. Would be good to see Ernie Irvan do it too if he was able.
We didn't stay for the entire UARA race but we stayed until they had that massive pile up in turn two that brought out the red. It looked like it would be interesting but the wife who is 5 months pregnant got cold and said we are leaving so no argument came from me.
Only other thing I wanted to say about the Nationwide race - and I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything - is that I thought it was complete BS to bring out the fricking blowers and sweepers with under 40 laps to go on that final caution. I don't know how many laps actually clicked off but it was too many. Maybe they had to get their Service Master Clean face time on the track or something. Everything they were sweeping and blowing was completely out of the main groove anyway. I almost lost it completely when they decided to blow and sweep the aprons too. I think its just a ploy to get the Service Master sponsorship some face time and allow TV to take some more timeouts. That wouldn't have been so bad in the middle of the race but don't frigging do it with 40 laps to go!!!!!
Nice day - enjoyed the show. Hope today's race is at least decent
