Yeah I heard about this awhile back but seems they are making a move on it now.

would be better if they privatized their health care industry, "private bobbies" has a vaguely obscene ring to it

Yeah great idea, paid commisions on arrests...

What's funny is this already goes on. Like the NYPD guy who was in hiding because he dimed on the force for their citation quotas that currently exist.

I bet you like the idea of private security more than you think. I've never had problems with mall cops, club/bar security, event security, etc. Regular ass police have inconvenienced me on several occasions.

couple issues I see:

1) lowest bidder probably gets it
2) private companies with access to sensitive data
3) communication across departments now becomes communication between competitors

I have issues with the current setup I'm just not sure I like this idea either

I'm glad they're beta testing in the UK :)

I think I'd trust a private company with sensitive data over the government.

I think privatization makes abuse of power a lot easier to investigate and punish.

Welcome to Colwyn, Pennsylvania, where cops taser each other for giggles, and the mayor declares a state of emergency after county agents raid the police department in the course of an investigation into the torture of a local teen in a jail cell. Followed, of course, by a fistfight between residents and police at a borough council meeting.

Poor thing

This very response is indicative of the problem.

The police do not care who they hinder, inconvenience or even harm in many cases.

Stun gun use lowers police injuries - UPI.com

A study of U.S. police use of stun guns found citizen injuries increased but officer injuries decreased, researchers said.
...
One study published in Justice Quarterly found citizens were injured 41 percent of the time when officers used a stun gun only during apprehension. However, citizens were injured only 29 percent of the time when no stun gun was used. The study looked at 13,913 use-of-force cases in seven cities.

The second study published in Police Quarterly found officers were injured 5 percent of the time when using a stun gun only, but officers were injured nearly 10 percent of the time when no stun gun was used. This study looked at 12,455 use-of-force cases in six cities.

Lmao, so a sarcastic response is a blanket statement for every leo?

Up there with speeding?

I wish I could live in a fantasy world.

It's not the sarcasm. It's the fact that, as far as I can tell, you really do not care if he has been inconvenienced or harassed.

Not every leo has a bad attitude. Just most of them.

And yes, if a leo speeds, or breaks any other law, then he is a piece of crap hypocrite who loses absolutely all moral authority to enforce the law. Anyone who is willing to disregard the law for his own sake is not fit to hold others to it. A person who is untrustworthy in small things is untrustworthy in big things.

You have a gift you are wasting if you know this from type on a web board.

Also, love how you know most of leos are a certain way.

Keep using Jesus to promote your cowardess.

Am I to understand that a P.O. that exceeds the speed limit is also the same guy who plants drugs in cars?

Just want to make sure I understand the argument before I tell you how stupid it is.
