As far as privatization of L.E. goes, I would need to see a lot more information before being able to draw any informed conclusion about whether or not it's a good idea.

Tennessee Constables. There's not many left, for a good reason.
Tennessee Constable
Another famous Tennessee constable that came under fire was Buford Pusser, the famed corruption fighting lawman from McNairy County. Pusser was the true life sheriff in the dramatized tale and movie of his life “Walking Tall”. Buford Pusser was elected constable in McNairy County just prior to being elected sheriff.

If the local govt has a speed trap take it to the state level.

Happened frquently in Ohio and the areas were pulled

At one time (maybe still happens), Constables were on commission. Most counties in Tennessee have eliminated that position for good reason.

You have a gift you are wasting if you know this from type on a web board.

Also, love how you know most of leos are a certain way.

Keep using Jesus to promote your cowardess.

Cowardice? Where have I ever demonstrated cowardice? There are a lot of real things to attack me for, why make things up?

Hypocrite, pot kettle?

Glass house?

Typical CofC hate mongering nut job.

Funny how that works.......

You can know that a typical christian is a hate monger and a nut job, but I can't know what a typical leo is like?

He is the most righteous man since the christ. Prevailing attitude taught in his church.

I am far from righteous. I just try to be, but I fail a lot. I have never claimed otherwise. Again, you know a prevailing attitude amongst the church, but I can't know the prevailing attitude amongst leos.

Just curious. Let's simplify. Do you care the people are inconvenienced by the police in ways that the police may think are no big deal but does bother the person being inconvenienced?

I'm gonna guess that inconvenienced is any contact with le that he didnt initiate. In other words....dont want le until he needs le.

The more efficient, both in terms of cost and criminal justice, step that should be taken is to scale back law enforcement, legislation, and preventive policing. Sixty-eight hundred years of civilization passed without preventive policing; the 180-year experiment with preventive policing has led to the highest incarceration and recidivism rates in recorded history without promising a material reduction in violent crimes and property crimes.

So local and state govts are the gripe?

Less of this:

In January, NYPD cops arrested 19-year-old Jateik Reed, accusing him of possession of marijuana and cocaine and assault of a police officer. Cops said Reed attempted to dump his drugs before head-butting one cop and punching another. Predictably, surveillance video now appears to contradict the police's account of narcotics.

After the teenager was arrested, his mother, a friend of hers and Reed's 16-year-old brother went to the precinct station to complain. They were arrested after cops say Reed’s younger brother swung at them. Police denied allegations of brutality against Reed until video surfaced indicating police brutality, compelling the District Attorney to investigate.

Cops will now have to explain where the narcotics came from if not out of Reed’s hands. Police officers’engagement with Jateik Reed stems from the city’s “Stop and Frisk” program, where cops stop largely minority youth looking for guns and drugs. Guns are virtually illegal in the city, and while whites as likely as non-whites to use narcotics, in Michael Bloomberg’s New York City minorities are almost exclusively targeted.

New Surveillance Video Contradicts Cops

obviously

What's not so obvious is the notion that privatizing police protection probably leads to fewer conflicts of interest.

You will always have to be wary of kickbacks, but other than that I think you are facing a lot less corruption.
