A few weeks ago I had one that was barely passable it was so big. I was given non narcotic meds to alleviate the pain. I was dumbfounded. And hope I'm never in Chattanooga again if I have one.

Heck I hope I never am either. I bet you went through pure Hell.

Most of mine are by now but every once in a while I get One that puts me in the ER.

Best way to pass them is lots of Cranberry Juice and or Beer.

Beer does help, but it does no good if you don't feel well enough to eat before beer drinking. At least not me.

I don't know how people dealt with them before Pain Meds. Bet there where a lot of Suicides back then.

Opium tinctures and Coca/Cocaine tinctures as well as plain old opium and coca/cocaine. Both drugs were perfectly legal for most of our history. Raw opium has been around forever and the South used to be a major opium producer. Barring that, booze.

Or you can get sick in Chattanooga and get Advil.

As a emergency medicine physician in Chattanooga I will say the majority of individuals with kidney stones get a good bit of relief from Tordal( an NSAID like advil). It seems to work better on renal stones that other types of pain. I will also say that often those who come in and claim to have kidney stones often have no evidence of said stones other than their demand for narcotics. That being said, I most always give a combination of tordal, narcotics (morphine of dilaudid) and anti-nausea meds with lots of fluids. I would imagine there are some doctors out there who have decided to quit giving narcotics for kidney stones altogether due to overwhelming amount of drug seekers who use kidney stones as a common complaint in the ED. I know I have given multiple doses of strong narcotics only to find out the patient had a negative Cat-scan and a history of multiple visits for the same with negative scans as well.

I had a cat scan, and they said it was a 7 mm kidney stone. The proof is in the pudding. I understand someone "faking it" for pain meds, but damn, I pissed in a cup (which showed blood), took an IV, and showed the size of the kidney stone on film. How in the hell do I fall in the "I just want pain meds" category?

Did anyone see Wes Ruckers twitter feed during this? Dude is such a little girl and sucks so hard sometimes. Blaming the NFL and freaking Red Bull over his stroke. Almost as bad as his Trevon Martin rant.
