I just read Bru McCoy’s comments when asked about the offensive woes. He stated the players, including himself, didn’t think they would have success, even after the opening drive.

How did it get to this point and how can they regain the swagger? He said it begins with “trusting one another.” But how do you not have confidence after you scored a TD on first possession?

Hendo was an incredible QB and leader, so I understand things changed. But what has caused the offensive players to doubt themselves? You can’t be tentative and expect to win a game in any sport.

Thoughts?

Edit- I just posted article.

Is it regarding Milton, the OC or other players on offense? I was surprised the offense thought that way, esp after they marched down and scored on their opening drive.
Definitely Milton. JH knows it too. It’s why we aren’t aggressive down the middle of the field in the pass game. We have no C on the OL and a QB that isn’t good pre-snap.

Lack of confidence in who is managing the game? These guys aren't blind. They see the difference from last year to now and know where the deficiencies lie, but they are trying to be team players. They aren't able to run the same plays from last season, we rarely go vertical and the pre-snap confusion, time/clock management we've seen this season shows the regression in game management. I just hope there's something that gets this thing going in the right direction this coming week.

Seems Milton has all the physical tools, it's what's between the ears that is lacking. He's had basically 2 1/2 years in this system and still looks like a first year player with no experience. The guy is basically the Van Wilder of football he's been around so long.

It's a weird comment, but so is having a players only meeting after the second game. Something isn't right..

Agree. I didn’t think much about the players’ only meeting. But I think something isn’t right as our best corner, Slaughter, didn’t play, along with Mincey (possession charges). This was the biggest game at this point of the season against a rival we haven’t beaten at their place in 20 yrs.

Elite teams have players who stay motivated and disciplined. Everyone makes mistakes but something is off in Rocky Top. I hope it can be fixed immediately but have my doubts.

Which was hilarious. I only saw the one with Ryan Reynolds. Haven't seen the others.

According to Vols redshirt senior wide receiver Bru McCoy, it's because Tennessee wasn't confident that they could replicate the success of the first drive of the game.

"I can't really pinpoint it exactly," said McCoy when asked about the struggles after the first drive. "We came out fast, started fast and then sort of lost the momentum a little bit. Me personally, I think we started thinking back that we couldn't do it again and we just had. It's a mindset thing. It's a confidence thing. It's trusting one another in what we are capable of doing. It's really just that."

Here's the full quote.

When there's ambiguity, we tend to interpret through our own preconceptions. Those who are sour on Milton interpret to mean lack of confidence in Milton. Those who question playcalling and OC have that interpretation. Those who think UF is in our player's heads take it that way.
Reality is none of those things are hinted or even implied.

This is on the coaches... Period!
Wrong. Do coaches get some blame? Yes. But much of it is in Milton. He has got to take this team and make it his. He has to be the one who is the unquestioned leader. But let’s face it, these WRs haven’t been good this year. They have dropped many catchable balls. And the OL? Well it’s trash.
