Bruce calls out Hopson..

if it wasnt for hopson this game would have gotten out of control....why doesnt anyone point to the fact that the so called savor of the program and all-star Harris is to slow to get to the rim on anyone and if he does make it there he is to afraid of contact to try and go up hard with it oh and he cant rebound because right when he pulls it down someone stronger just plucks it away from him......we got alot of work left for this team to get back to where they were..

I think Hopson is talented and I have talked in the past of him taking the next step and being a great one at TN. Sadly, this doesn't seem to be in his future. I played the 2 guard spot and could get to the rim a bit, so I did it. If I didn't hit a 3 early, it was drive, score, get fouled, or screw up. Hopson has an amazing first step and doesn't use it that often. Let's face it; he's lazy and more interested in how he looks than playing ball. When does he dive? When does he take a charge? When does he get the ball and dare the other team to stop him? I guess you just can't coach competitiveness and the killer instinct. Everyone on that floor should know they are in for a long night when playing someone with Hopson's talent. But he simply makes it too easy for the other team. I can't imagine trying to coach a player like that. I'd probably wind up on probation or something!

Spotty is a good college player, just not a GREAT one. The only problem I have is that the coaching staff continues to try pushing greatness on him when he clearly cannot deal with being the primary focus. I just don't know what more the coaching staff can do to get his attention.

He reminds me of a (more mannerable) Vince Young - great at times, but he can't seem to bounce back when the slumps and the crowd whispers come around (Vandy game not included).

Inconsistent is being nice. A game-by-game analysis of Hopson would show something akin to a has-been golfer's handicap: 5 games close to par and 15 between 80 and 90. The Handicap is 2, and meaningless. So, in fact, it's the 15 by which consistency should be measured, rather than the 5.

You just confused me:loco:

Scotty "Gumby" Hopson. He just so loose and wobbly. He can't hold on to the ball to save his life. He seems to be dazed and confused. He is a softy and definitely a major bust. Haha "Softy Hopson"

I thought Fields was every bit as bad if not worse than Hopson today. Man....that dude has hands of stone. He can't catch a cold.

If so, he's still a few short of what seems to be necessary. Why wasn't CBP calling him out last summer, when something could be changed? Now, its a bit late.

Yeah, I don't know how much can be done about it now, other than plopping him on the bench for a while.

Why would anyone have such high hopes for a kid coming into UT shooting rainbows? Go back and look at his shot freshman year. He's had to spend way to much time adjusting his shot to mature into a leader. Williams and Goins are the closest thing we got.
The only good thing UT got from SH was future recruits

He's being asked to do too much. The offense needs to run through Harris and that's the end of it. Hopson can't hold onto the ball long enough to create his own shot.

It's also just about a waste of time running set plays in the half court with these guys. It's obvious the best thing they do is push the ball and play with a up tempo.

If we keep this up, we'll never get another McDonalds all-American. UT has been the place where McDonalds A-A's go four and Equador.

Scotty was suppose to be a one and done, and at this rate he'll be lucky to go over seas.

Harris is suppose to be a one and done, but so far I don't see that happening, since his #'s are even better than Scotty's.

Don't get me wrong, Hopson didn't help any.....but having Pearl and McBee in all the time doesn't help either

Took the words out of my mouth.

Spotty Dropson is the absolute worse "star" player in the entire country. If he is the best we have, we're doomed. Tobias is inconsistent, but at least he has potential to improve. The worse news about Spotty is that he will be back next year.

Tobias has been the MOST consistent player we have!

What happened to Cam Tatum? He doesn't do anything anymore. If Scotty isn't on, then Tatum has to pick up the slack. He's completely disappeared. Didn't even score against UGA.

Cam has been a non factor it seems this season. It may be time for Williams to get a different type of weed. Whatever kind he has now must make you wanna lay back and play Xbox and munch out. Williams its time to get some new stuff man , your bring the team down , instead of up. On a serious note this off season I would take scotty and a few others and drop the off in the middle of bronx, NY and let them play street ball for a few months , no blood no foul rules and see how much tougher they are when they come back. Kinda like what rocky had to do in Rocky 3 or 4 when Apollo was is manager.

That dude gave up atleast 8 points by not being able to catch the ball and throwing it away!

Offense is only half the story. Kid can't play D either. His man was wide open more times than not yesterday. When Skylar McBee takes your place because your D is lacking, then there are serious problems. Also, Skylar ran without the ball on offense with some conviction. When Scotty doesn't have the ball, he either stands in the corner and waits or lopes around on the offensive end like moving without the ball is a crime. Scotty has potential to be great, but he is just flat out lazy. Doesn't mean he is a bad kid, just lazy. He should not be our leader, and he is not our best player. Team would've won yesterday without him.

Tobias is inconsistent, but at least he has potential to improve.

If Tobias had picked a better school, he may have been surrounded by a shread of talent, and had the opportunity to allow his full potential to shine. As is, he gets double teamed for being the lone wolf on a 12 man roster, that has any threat of being a dominating force during a game.

Weak excuse. He hasn't been dominant either, but it's as much a function of his assertiveness as it is goofy gameplan and surrounding players.

Scotty hasn't spoke to the media these last two days according to Rucker. Yesterday it was study hall. Today it was treatment. Wonder if we're experiencing the Vince Young effect.
