Bruce Pearl comments on Michigan

And both of you obviously know nothing about basketball. He, and Tyler Smith, were so afraid of any semblance of contact near the basket it was ridiculous. I think they each did more pump fakes in one layup attempt then most players going to the rim did over their entire career. Yes, soft.

And I didn't even bring up the fact that he was good for a mental mistake at the end of any close game that almost cost us each close game.

The only thing that made J.P. Prince valuable was his wingspan. Period.

I guess your vast experience banging and finishing in the paint with players 3-5 inches taller and 20-30 lbs heavier leads you to your opinion? Thought not.

J.P. was a lot of thins, but soft was not one of them.

I would love to get to Duke. Tennessee plays its best basketball while playing top-ranked OOC teams.

Not really an over-exaggeration, you said it.

I think you've been watching too much of that awesome Sun Belt ball.

I didn't say anyone that pump fakes on a shot is soft. Go back and read. Just because someone didn't go to a school that is awesome at sports doesn't mean they don't know a good player/team when they see it. Using your logic with that comment, I'd hate to be an Ivy League graduate.....I'd know nothing about sports.

You're right. Why are any of us commenting on college athletics, at all? Surely none of us know anything about college sports since none of us played at a level as high as what we are talking about.

EDIT: In the words of Forrest Gump (since I gather you guys might understand a person with that intelligence level...that's all I've got to say about that).

Didn't see this posted..

Bruce Pearl said he didn’t know much off hand about Michigan, but he said it’s a very good shooting team.

“Michigan is a tough team, and a tested team, they make about eight 3s a game,’’ Bruce Pearl said. “I’d say Kentucky is the one team that shoots it as well as they do in our league.

“I would imagine we’ll see some 1-3-1 (zone) . . . and we’ll see a smart man-to-man. (Michigan coach) John Beilein is a brilliant tactician . . . a coach’s coach. It won’t take him very long to figure out what our strengths and weaknesses are.’’

From Scotty
“We can’t afford to look past Michigan; they beat Michigan State twice this year, and that tells you everything you need to know,’’ Vols junior Scotty Hopson said. “But it would be awesome to play Duke; that would be a big stage for us.’’

Here's the rest of the article if you want to read

UT to play Michigan on Friday at 12:40 p.m. GoVolsXtra

Trust me, I have seen Michigan on a few occasions this season. This is a very good three-point shooting team. If the Vols are to have a chance to advance past the first round, they have to guard the perimeter unlike they have all season.

You call J.P. 'soft' and then talk about knowing about college sports?

Because this is Scotty Hopson. Cannot wit until he is gone. J.P. Prince is the player I could not stand the most at Tenn until Hopson came along. Doesn't "get it" at all. J.P. Princess was just the softest player to step on a court since Vince Carter.

Just a really stupid post overall. Prince was tough and so is Scotty who is carrying this team offensively rite now with Harris.

Mr. MTSU, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yah. I'm kind of thinking the reporter probably asked how he would feel playing against Duke and thats the reason he said it. Any other way would be too random lol.

Nothing. I wouldn't even bother asking here because hardly nobody believes it can be done. Just read the few Duke threads already started.

Now let me scare you JP bashers with some FACTS:

In the last 10 games in 09-10 when the vols went 8-2 and were within 1 point of going to the final four, soft, soft JP Prince averaged:

14.1 points per game
3.2 rebounds per game
2.9 assists per game

Really, really soft guy!! Please know your facts before you get on the board and embarass yourself!!

The answer is, "All I am thinking about is Michigan."

Totally agree. Have to take this one gane at a time, if you advance. One bad night and it's go home! Just hope the Vols play like they did early in the season-first 7 games.:good!:

I didn't know a ten game stretch defines a person for their entire career at a school? Thanks for that. And numbers are irrelevant to my point, to begin with.

I think I'll refrain from responding directly to you. Something tells me you have other things you need to worry about.

It would take actually watching a game to understand what I am saying. Reciting numbers, as so average as they may be (and they are below pedestrian... J.P. Prince Stats, News, Photos - Tennessee Volunteers - ESPN), means nothing to this conversation.

And I never even brought up how much of a defensive liability he was. Having length and playing defense are two very different things. And spare me a comment about his block at the end of the Ohio St. game. One play doesn't define defensive ability. Then again, it's not like Bruce has actually taught any of his players at Tenn how to move their feet on defense...

I talked to Pearl before the NCAA's last year and discussed how important Prince was to our success. I believe he is the primary reason we got as far as we did last year. He came up clutch over and over last year and believe not having him is one of the main reason we are inconsistant this year.

You really have no clue as to what you are talking about. JP was our best player at the end of games last year. If not for him, we don't beat OSU and get to the EE. You do remember the blocked shot?
