I went tonight to the Big Orange Caravan in West Palm Beach, and got to talk to CBP briefly....he was the keynote speaker. I've got to say that I can't recall hearing anyone speak live that was a better speaker and engaged the crowd better than CBP....the guy has an amazing personality on a stage......

I really think we are truly lucky to have such a great coach and great personality at UT as Coach Pearl. I asked him how he was able to adjust to running a much slower system than what he liked, and he said that although he preferred to play at a faster pace, he would play fast, slow, or whatever the players do best in order to win.......

He also said that he is happy in Knoxville and isn't going anywhere. With Pat, Pearl, and hopefully Dooley, the tennis team winning everything, and baseball looking up, I am much more confident that our sports programs are headed back to their championship winning ways....

I didn't even need to read your post, just the title and I knew you were speaking the truth brother.

(That being said, I still read your post and well done)

I was ecstatic to see that he didn't beat that "run and gun" offense like a dead horse when it wasn't working effectively. The team played slower this year and adjusted to the players available...and we won big

Exactly. I wonder if he will use more of the half court offense since it seemed to work for us. I know he wants to play the fast run and gun offense but if winning games means slowing it down, I am all for it.

Good post. I'll add my voice to those who want to thank Bruce Pearl for the awesome job he has done.

We'll never get everybody we offer (nobody does), but the fact that BP is selecting players now instead of just having to take whoever is willing to come truly speaks volumes about the state of the program. He has brought us to a solid top 15, bordering on top 10 program - something I never thought would happen (especially during the Wade Houston days). Thanks to Pearl, we can all sit back and enjoy the ride, because the territory we are about to enter is truly unexplored. :)

He led us to one step closer to the Final Four. I'm a lot more confident about him leading us to the Final Four than I use to be after this year.

I can't imagine being a recruit and telling that guy no! Especially for a sleeze ball like Cal.

Because Cal's players have had great success in the NBA while all Pearl has is a backup PG.

I love BP and IMO he is one of, if not the best HC in D-1 BB that doesn't have a NC! Not only a great coach but like the OP said, he comands the room when he speaks. You're 100% right, we are VERY lucky to have CBP! GBO!

If you're referring to Rose, Evans and Wall, them goin to the NBA had nothin to do with Cal! They wouldn't have even went to college if not for the NBA's stupid high school rule. All three would have been top 5-10 pix straight outta high school. Cal is like Kiffin, great recruiter, not much of a coach.
