If he really did lie to UT Compliance then he is an idiot. Compliance is there to help you, not get you in trouble

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on this question. Pearl isn't allowed to speak about it, bc/ of his attorney's advice, but Tony Jones has been ranting about UT telling him not to disclose info about the picture of the BBQ at Pearl's house.

Also, Pearl did meet with UT compliance, I beliieve, before he actually met with the NCAA and lied to them about the picture.

Is it possible that the UT compliance Dept. set them up to get fired? Or was the UT compliance dept. just that dumb?
Or are the former coaches just trying to pass the blame to someone else?? I'm not really sure what to believe.......

Pearl and his Staff set themselves up. They , the coaches, set the Compliance Dept up.

Tony never said that UT told him not to be forthcoming. He said that UT's attorney's told him to not disclose any information that he wasn't specifically asked about. This sounds like standard legal advise but in this case the NCAA is the judge and jury so they can find you guilty not because of what you said but for what you didn't say.

"Do you recognize where this picture was taken?" That's a specific enough, yes or no question. You can say "Yes, that looks like Bruce Pearl's house." Don't say, "Yes, that looks like Bruce Pearl's house the day we illegally hosted recruits"

I do agree with the thought that Pearl and company is responsible. However if the compliance department knew this question about a BBQ was coming up from the AA. The department should have said whatever is asked be 100% truthful seeing as it is a minor violation anyhow.
Are you fricking serious? At what point is it their job to teach morals or common freaking sense. Trying to blame compliance or anyone other than Pearl for him lying is insane.

It was an extremely stupid thing for him to do and he put the university in an impossible situation. he had to be fired but the University tried their best to keep him and he continued to shoot himself in the face as it went on. These are unassailable facts. Pearl provided all the ammo needed to get fired and the administration gave him more than enough chances.

Saying them using yet anther f up by him as an excuse to fire him is hilarious. They gave the guy many many chances to **** and fly right. He never did big stuff which pisses me off even more he kept doing little piddly stupid stuff that made no sense.

I appreciate what the guy did for this Program but his track record shows it was only a matter of time before something like this was coming. Better be rid of it now.
