Pearl takes this job for THREE years. Guess what happens then! He may hope that CM flops and he gets his old job back. (Just a thought!)

LOL Kornheiser just said on PTI he should have turned that job down and helped Pat coach this year

It's not that delusional. In fact with the offer the D-league made him it's about the most logical outcome. If UT succeeds with CM, then we do nothing, if they fall on their faces who will com here to coach? Bruce has a proven track record and I doubt if we are doing so bad to fire Cuonzo in three years that we can get anyone better.

*cue the pearl haters/people who think the world is a fairy tale where "bad guys" don't get hired to great jobs*

Dude, I was a Pearl Slurper! If you seriously think this is even a remote possibility, especially with a new AD, then you are the one choking on Everlasting Gobstoppers.

I am sure some similarly deluded soul posted something similar about CPF. Also I find it interesting the people that don't like CCM refer to him as just Cuonzo kinda like folks who won't refer to Obama as President. Just saying. I have a feeling those are the same group of people largely, with similar motivations.

I saw Pearl at the store and asked him about it and he said he can't say for certain that he is working there. Then about 10 minutes later he comes running up to me and says, you know after thinking about it and discussing it with Tony Jones, I think I do work there.

I wonder if this job is actually a pay raise for him. Wouldn't be totally shocked if it were.

I doubt it's a pay raise. The reason I heard that he didn't take the Texas job, was his kids would not be going with him and they are still in school here. Sounds like he wants to just be a dad for a bit, before he gets back into it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought the whole NCAA thing was a bunch of crap any way. I'd love to see the NCAA go away and some other organization take over that actually works in today's world not how it was 60 years ago.

Could be, but I doubt it.

I heard they rake in 4.something billion a year, so who knows. He won't be a typical VP of marketing or whatever.. more so an iconic figure I guess they figured they'd take a chance on that and see if it'd pay off.
