I went to the Auburn game a couple of weeks ago. Even though I bought on Stubhub, I ended up on Aubie's call list. This morning, I had a voicemail that was a recording from their ticket office asking me to buy Women's NIT tickets. It also said how I could opt out. Fortunately, I didn't, because on the way home, I had another voicemail...a recording from Bruce. It's funny and a little sad at the same time.

1.) Wish him luck against everybody not named Tennessee.
2.) I feel sick
3.) At least he gets to beat up KY, FL, Bammer, Vandy, UGA, aTm, Mizz, LSU, Arky, Ole Miss, MS st, SC
4.) I feel really sick
5.) GDBPWTF

I really am heart broken over this.....Coach Martin had better step up, if Pearl has any success, our fan base will be screaming, if we are winning then all will be ok until Cuonzo heads to Purdue

I spend all that time transferring this from my phone to Quicktime to iMovie to youtube so you can hear it, and this is how you thank me?

:pinch:

Well I appreciate your post & watched on t.v. BP's plane arrival in Auburn with sadness & laughter, recalling his mastery of fan relationships & enthusiasm in Knoxville! Wait & watch him do the same down there. Now let' go win a game tonight, Vols!

correct as of right now, but seriously, think about this: Whose basketball program has the best future, say 2 or 3 years down the road. UT or AU ? :whistling:

Hard to know, but Pearl's job is going to be much harder than a lot of people here think.

He's an established winner in the SEC. That should help his recruiting. But, I doubt Aubie has guys like Watson or Lofton who just need a new coach for them to take the league by storm.

no way to know

If being sticklers for playing by for inconsistently applied rules that many of our conference members regularly ignore is the goal of fielding a men's basketball team then this was a win. By any other measure, this was an epic failure.

Before they fired their coach I heard a lot of commentators talking about the potential of their backcourt over the next couple of years. If all he needs is a point guard and some depth his job will be easier than replacing what the Vols are losing. Maybe Auburn was the easier gig?

that's true about any question regarding the future, isn't it?

who would you bet on?

I wouldn't bet on either. I don't remember Bruce being this amazing recruiter and he doesn't have players waiting on him like he did at UT. There were also many complaints about the flex while he was here but those are suddenly gone. And people are now pumping up Tony Jones? He had a great run at UT but let's not go rewriting history

according to rivals, tennessee had the #6 class in 2006, #7 in 2008, and #9 in 2010.

the only history people are looking at is that bruce has won everywhere he has been.

i doubt the average fan knows what the flex is so i doubt they care. if players had a problem with it, it didn't seem to show on the court.

Actually, it did show on the court those last couple of years. We played some ugly halfcourt offense.

Well, finding a consistent PG wasn't exactly his strong suit here.
