Yeah, the national title they won in 98 with Saul at back-up PG was an atrocious result. He only started his senior year at point because quite frankly, he was the best option with J.P Blevins being the back up option. True, Smith wasn't that good, but its a horrible comparison to make.
Strong doesn't mean **** when you cant score, cant make a lay up, foul your guy 25 feet from the basket, be left unguarded because we know he isn't going to shoot the ball.
Regarding Maymon vs Pearl... I'd like to see stat lines per 40 minutes on both for an accurate comparison to know for sure, but from my perspective Pearl has been more productive, provides more of a spark, and doesn't shoot wild, airball 3's. Maymon finds himself out of position way too much, and hasn't seemed to gel the way I was hoping. Maymon is just as inept a FT shooter as Pearl, and doesn't bring the same tenacious defense as Pearl. IMO, Maymon to scout is a good move and will hopefully help Tobais out in honing in on his defensive prowess.
its pearl vs maymon vs hall. None of them are great and they should combine for like 12 minutes just to spell harris. Who is also playing some dissapointing basketball. But although hall and maymon are much more talented than pearl they arent doing many more positives than him on the floor. And they are both doing more negatives. Not sure what the inate ability of a player means. Its about production both good and bad. Pearl has earned as many minutes as the other 2.
It's safe to say when Stevie is in the game our motionless offense loses a viable stationary option. How great is that for opposing coaches? Rest a big with foul trouble or sag and help on penetration.
