University of Miami starting DL Bryan Pata was shot and killed earlier tonight in an apartment complex in Miami. No other details released right now.

They haven't released any info. A Miami poster on the main Rivals board said that he has heard it was a drive-by around 7 PM.

Is it remotely possible this has anything to do with the FIU brawl. I doubt it, just throwing it out there.

Where is the FIU campus? Miami?

Well, if anyone in Miami was wondering if the season could be any worse...

Yea, I think these campuses are within 30 miles of each other? I am asking more than I am saying they are. Someone know?

Awful, awful news. This might go down as the worst year in Miami football history...

'billy thinks this will help their street cred.

He may be right, but the comment is wholly tasteless.

This is in keeping with most 'billy posts I have read.

I guess he takes the term hillbilly to heart. Pathetic.

This will probably help their recruiting.

I am whole-heartedly ashamed that I wear the same colors as you. If that is all you can say at a time like this, then keep your mouth shut.

I think I speak for the rest of the decent people on this forum by extending my prayers and deepest condolences to the Pata family.

This is certainly no time to think of recruiting advantages Billy, nor is it a time for lighthearted humor.

The kid was only 22 with a chance at a NFL career. It is a sad story indeed. I agree with the above posters on the comment made by Hillbilly.
