VSPN believes, based on direct conversation with BB, that he will be visiting UT this weekend with his dad and Butler. I think he also believes that recent efforts to encourage high fan turnout at the team practice are aimed at securing a commitment. VSPN has also indicated (not directly reported) that BB is in our corner, and the visit is for the benefit of the two others with him. Hyams has reported that BB is NOT visiting. Hubbs has not confirmed anything either way. AFAIK, VSPN has the best info, as he has had almost daily direct conversations with BB.

Now that's what I'm talking about right there! I'd love to hear a commit sometime tomorrow and get this thing over with... Does Butler still scare people, or once BB signs, will he separate himself from Butler?

What you doing up so late VSPN?

I got an unexpected text message.

Guys, I hinted as much as I can. The rest of it is going to someone who will benefit from "breaking" the story. He deserves it and it'll done at some point tomorrow afternoon.

(since I'm a selfish scooper and all)

If BB comes through this weekend and I get my loan for my new 2500 Dodge Cummins 4X4...I will post nude pic of my ex g/f on 4chan

Fully Equipped with 22's and a six inch lift of course

I've been reading your posts here and on VQ all week and I appreciate you for all the good info (hints).

are you referring by chance to B. Hubbs as being the deserving one?...:p

Sounds like we won't be hearing from Wheaton anymore... That's a little sad... I was just starting to like the heated debates between him and Tenacious D!

I am pretty sure that VSPN is talking about Hubbs and how he will break the story about BB being in Knoxville tomorrow. It's going to be a special day tomorrow I believe!

VSPN, I also listened to the archive of your show from 3/12. Very good job..I will hopefully be able to listen on more of a consistent basis!

I didn't find them heated per se (neither one engaged in name calling or hissy fits) but they were definitely...shall we say...prolific in their writing.

Well it is almost 2am... so heated maybe wasn't the correct word... I like your prolific word better... maybe even monumental discussions would be well served here... I mean, Tenacious D did come up with quite a few long posts of stats that couldn't be questioned at all...

What were some of the up and downs in that one?

Man. Where to begin... Instead of Brian Butler, Pryor had Charlie Batch giving him advice. So, there was speculation about that. His dad is wheel-chair bound so all kinds of people were comparing handicap facilities at each stadium. He said he was going to announce but then didn't. From an Oregon perspective, he always said not to count us out and that he was going to visit. We felt like we had a pretty good shot if he would make it out to Eugene as he kept saying he was going to all the way up to the end. Was fun to follow anyway. Gives a person something to follow during the off-season. If we're not in the mix for a delayed recruit like this, it's going to seem too quiet next year.

Well at least tonight's conversation is better than reading Wheaton's endless ramblings.

And I was just starting to like you for keeping your word to your source...

Lord knows it's better than watching a game in Miami. And who wants to go to Oregon and sit in the rain every week?

It was sunny and warm out here today. Doesn't rain as much as people think and the Summers are really unbeatable.

It could be a bad sign that wheaton is not harassing us tonight.

Do you guys think he's on a Miami or an LSU board?

I was watching that crazy basketball game. My wife is a Syracuse alum. So, it was quite an event.

What's your take on the TCU visit? Find out anything from those guys you can contribute? We may have a common enemy, finally.

I haven't had a chance to read any details on that. I thought it might be some kind of typo or mix-up with another player named Brown.

i have a sneaky feeling that he plans on announcing while he is here...

Someone wrote that a recruit can't sign with staff present. Is that true?

Sounds like we won't be hearing from Wheaton anymore...

I'm here. Just had a busy day with work and then watched the longest basketball game in history.

Not that Wheaton didn't try. :)

I gave a specific rebuttal and neither Tenacious D nor anyone else on this board has even offered a direct response to it. So, my feeling is that the refutation was complete.

I mean, Tenacious D did come up with quite a few long posts of stats that couldn't be questioned at all...

It is an unquestionable stat that Kobe Bryant is shooting .339 from beyond the arc. But, the fact that it is unquestionable does not mean that it furthers the argument that Tenacious D was trying to make. The stats he has posted are unquestionable. But, have the same relevance as Pau Gasol's free throw percentage.

Don't get me wrong...I don't fault you at all for your point-by-point responses to TenD...if someone calls you out, best response is either a complete one or none at all.

If I might attempt to distill the essence of what I think TenD's point was...UT has a much richer "body of work" to pitch to Brown than Oregon does. Your point about the current state of the programs is well taken (by me anyway), because UT was dreadful last season. But I still think UT has more positives to offer Brown than Oregon, by a country mile.

Of course, this is all probably academic at this stage of the game. :)

Not sure, but I have heard this...

My day of work still hasn't stopped yet, and I'm on the east coast... wish I could've watched that game... sounds like it was a really good one...

By the way Wheaton... How do you do multiple quotes where it shows the original posters name like you do? I still can't figure that one out!

Thank you. Fair points.

Just, who pitching this body of work can take any credit for it? Honestly, just trying to envision myself in a recruits shoes listening to a current coach preaching to me about the accolades that some other coach accomplished... I wouldn't buy it.

I will agree though that past accolades are not 100% irrelevant. They do matter in the sense that they have a relationship to what kind of support and resources a program has established. That's a positive. Just not nearly as substantial as factors that would have a more direct impact on what a players experience might be (ie. current state of the program) during their college career.

Plus, I think Kiffin really gambled and shortened his leash. If he has a bad season this year, will you guys give him another chance in 2010? A coaching change in the middle of any players stay in the program could be a debacle.

It automatically sets it up for you if you click the "quote" button on the post you want to quote. You can also bring multiple quotes from different posts in by selecting that little + button on each post.

If you want to break up a persons quote to answer specific parts, you have to copy and paste the tag that appears in brackets and put it in front of the text and then follow it with the close quote bracket.

Even if we have another season like last years, which I dont' think we do, Kiffin hasn't necessarily over promised anything. Yeah he said the line about singing Rocky Top all night long after beating FL next year, but that was at his opening presser right after being hired. He knows that this fan base is tired of having leadership that doesn't stand up to the enemies. It was more of a statement of, there's a new sheriff in town rather than a prediction or promise.

If anything, he has stated numerous times that this program probably won't win at the level they want right off the bat. That it takes time to build it to that level. And that patience will be required.

Therefore, CLK and Co. will be allotted a few years to right this ship. I would say if it's not improved drastically by year 3, he's gone. But I seriously don't think that happens.

Kiffin has a huge buyout. That plus Fulmer's buyout means that the only way he doesn't come back in 2010 is if he gets caught naked with a goat in his office. Which, considering what his wife looks like, is pretty unlikely.

Agreed that his leash has probably been shortened somewhat, but not to the point where he's at risk of getting only one year.

Could be. I think it depends on if he continues with this "all publicity is good" approach. At the current rate, I don't see him lasting to 2011 if he's not winning 8+.

I don't think I would be too proud that the "current state" of my program was launched by a giant billboard 3000 miles away and a uniform scheme.

Just go away, Wheaton. I know you're holding out hope here, but the only competition we have is Miami. Give it up. Geez. Surely you have something better to do with your life.
