So I’m not normally one to post this type of thing but it has consumed me for the last couple days. I personally think we are better off if Young plays rather than the backup. Milroe scares me more than BY does for the simple fact that he’s a big guy who can run and is healthy. He is a true dual threat. Yes Bryce CAN run but he is always in the pass first mindset and even when scrambling makes running a last resort. Couple that with him having an injury and I think that the play calling will be much more conservative with Young in the game due to Bama not wanting him to scramble much to protect him. With Milroe I would think the playbook is wide open.

Am I being overly analytical here?

Bryce young is a heisman winner and high draft pick in the future. There’s no comparison to be made here.
Ordinarily I would agree. But is Bryce Young who is not 100%, and who Bama may try to protect for future conference games that can affect their season more than this one a better choice than a healthy backup?

Like people have said above, Bryce is not 100%. I’ll be curious to see how much he moves around. If they will limit him with play calling

Even if not 100%, Bryce is a champion and knows what it is to produce under pressure. He will be ginger to take a hit though. Milroe may be a bit of a headcase after last week. If we can get in there early and pop him a time or two and scramble him, his confidence may not keep up.

Milroe barely beat the aggies in Tuscaloosa and turned the ball over. Bryce is the superior talent by a mile.

Interesting discussion I had with a Bama friend of mine earlier today...He claims no super-secret insider info but did say that some folks are saying that Bryce's dad wants him to sit out another week...of course if you don't like that rumor, just start your own.

Mmmmm......no. I'd rather see the backup that's played in a grand total of one game, and didn't play especially well in it, over last year's Heisman winner.

But that's just me.

Bryce Young is twice the QB that Milroe is!

Just run the damn offense, and keep running it, and we will win the game. It's that simple. Everything else is just noise.

I'm probably in the minority here, I don't think Bryce plays.
I hope he doesn’t play.
Why? Because he’s MUCH BETTER than his backup and I want to win after losing 15 straight to Bama.
I laugh at posts saying the Vols want to face their best players so that Bama fans don’t moan that they only lost because their starting QB wasn’t there. Who cares?
Do you think SCarolina wasn’t happy they didn’t face Kentuckys starting QB last week.
do you think the Bama defensive coaches hope that Tillman plays? If you said yes, you’re wrong.

Man have you seen Milroe throw??

There's no "dual-threat " about him lol.

Yes, we absolutely want to play Milroe.

1) We have the 2nd best run defense in the SEC. Milroe and Gibbs running all day plays into our favor.

2) He doesn't protect the ball.

The confidence of everyone in this thread helps me tremendously. And for the record, that’s why I don’t post many things like this, because I haven’t seen Milroe play other than highlights.
I’ve been hand ringing because of it.

No chance does Bama make a run at a NC with Milroe at the helm, imo. A one loss Bama squad can still win it all. I just don’t see them risking further injury to Young…or putting their title hopes at risk.

Heisman Trophy winner or young kid making his first away start in likely the most hostile environment any of us has ever seen. Hmm

We've already played 2 QBs like Milroe... Richardson and Daniels

I like our chances against Milroe, also Bama's
o-line is a little suspect..

Totally get your point though. I worry that having young back makes Bama better just from a psychological standpoint. He's a true leader for that offense. Everyone knows he can't be 100% Football is just as much mental so i can see those guys str8 balling for him. I can't see anyway they have the same level of excitement playing for the backup.

Of course, neither makes it to halftime cos our D is gonna rip their arms off 🤣

If I were Saban I would want to know if BY can take a hit. I recommend he line BY on the 50 and let Will Anderson tee off on him. Once might not be enough, so 3 or 4 hits just to be sure. :)
Even though I never wish injury on anyone. This is the dark humor that fuels me. Thank you for this.
