BTO’s Alabama Postgame Report

When I am responding to something someone said I quote them. So, no this was not directed at you in any way.
I think you post good stuff.
It was more a statement that I also was frustrated by SV's 2 fouls and when I went back and looked at them, I ended up having a different take.

I'm still an advocate of foul less and play more!
Gotcha! When you said, "I'm with you!", given that I was the only one kind of belaboring the criticism of his fouls, it just felt like it may have been directly in response to me, even without being quoted, which would have been fine. Even if it had been aimed at me, I wasn't offended by your response. I just wanted to ensure you and others that I wasn't ignoring all of the positives that Santi brings in spite of the fouling issues I take exception with.

That's about it. 3 fouls in 5 minutes won't cut it. He's been a little disappointing this year, to be honest. Hasn't really followed thru on the promise he showed on Team USA last summer.

He's combined for 17 fouls in 60 minutes in the five SEC games. 21 points, 19 rebounds, 3 blks, 7 TOs. That isn't real efficient and it's a good thing Aidoo has been as good as he's been. I thought Awaka would have taken a bigger step forward with Plavsic and Nkamhoua leaving and opening so many minutes. Tobe plays hard but is still undisciplined.
@orbs son thought you may like this.

It really is a shame he is fouling so much, I love everything else he brings when he is on the court
Absolutely. He's one of my favorite players for all those other reasons. And honestly, it's a bit surprising that with as disciplined as he is in every other aspect of life, that he can't be more disciplined on the court with regards to the fouling. He's a super smart kid. He just needs to translate that into that aspect of the game.

Another game, another silly, unnecessary foul inside 4 minutes by Santi. You can't run into the paint and shove a guy in the back in the paint with 3 sets of eyes on you.

I hate it for the kid. He just picked up a quick 2 tonight.
Yep, just a complete lack of an ability to lay off. For a kid who is so smart, he does some really dumb things on defense that are keeping him off the floor. And honestly, JPE is outplaying him, right now. Awaka better get it together before JPE starts getting his minutes.

He’s probably getting a reputation with opposing teams and the refs. They’ll go at him knowing the refs don’t give him any leeway.
