BTO’s ETSU Postgame Report

So if at the end of the year Bailey played in every game ~18mpg and Zeigler has multiple DNP’s and ~8mpg, you’re gonna say Zeigler was ahead of Bailey?

I’d say that it was a 9 man rotation which I’ve said ever since my first post that got you so hot and bothered. There have been 10. Minus Uros leaves 9. The starters plus BHH, Powell, and ZZ makes 8. Bailey makes 9 and he won’t hang on to that spot if his contribution mirrors last year with a defensive effort that wanes or if he misses shots in high volume. You’re overly concerned with ranking players by minutes.

I think that ZZ has a clear role as the #2 PG. Bailey’s role isn’t clear as Powell looks like he will be better and Mashack has more talent. Bailey’s biggest advantage is being an upperclassman with several years learning what Barnes wants.

Bailey’s role is very clear, for some reason you just can’t see it…he’s been first guard off the bench in all 3 games and even if he was 2nd off the bench behind Powell that’s still a clear and “regular” role!!!

I didn’t realize this during the game, Tennessee went on a 20-3 run over the final 9:39 of the first half…that’s pretty nuts, holding a team to 3 points over essentially 10 minutes? Went from 26-20 to 46-23 at the half.

Tennessee also scored the first 6 points of the 2nd half so it ended up being a 26-3 run in all, and held ETSU to 3 points over 12+ minutes, that is WILD.

It carried through to the second half. 26-3 run.

That's crazy.

Very clear? LOL. They haven’t played anybody yet. Barnes played EVERY upperclassman early (Bailey was the 6th of the 6 upperclassmen to see the court). Johnson and Springer’s roles weren’t clearly defined in the first week of 2020-21.

There’s nothing to “revisit”. There have been 10, minus Uros leaves 9. ZZ is the backup PG. BHH is one of the first 3 posts. Powell isn’t going to miss 10 shots in any game unless he shoots 20 times.
Lmao…and Bailey has been off the bench before Powell and there’s more than 1 wing position, such a strange, strange take. Lol. Bailey could rank 6th in games played and minutes played and you’re gonna argue that he not part of the rotation, strange hill TGO.

I said that he’s in the 9 man rotation and is the most likely of those 9 to be displaced. Powell and Mashack and QD just walked on campus for the first time a few months ago. You’re obsessed with the order that Barnes subbed. My eyes tell me that Powell is a better option as a 3-point shooter coming off of the bench. And he has almost 4 years of eligibility left.

And Powell very well could be 6th man, doesn’t mean Bailey becomes 9 or 10…completely plausible that Powell is 6th and Bailey 7th.

Bailey is already in the first 9. ZZ, BHH, and Powell won’t be losing out to QD or Mashack. Aidoo could even climb into the mix with 2 other bigs if ORN steps outside. My original comment that bothered you is that ZZ, BHH, Powell, and Bailey are the first 9 and that Bailey is the most likely to yield to one of the newcomers (especially if Mashack develops quickly). Maybe there will eventually be 12 or 13 regulars but it seems like suggesting more than 10 has upset you in the past.

No, this is what you said that I disagreed with…

“Right now it looks like there will be 8 regulars (KC, ZZ, SV, JJJ, BHH, Fulk, Powell, ORN) with Bailey possibly holding on to a 9th in the primary rotation.”

In no way right now does it look like there will be 8 regulars and Bailey not being one of them, or being the 9th guy…I just about guarantee you that Bailey will not be 9th on the team in Games Played/MPG, which is how rotation/regulars is measured. By definition Bailey is currently the 6th man, maybe he gives way to Powell (quite possible) but I don’t see any chance (barring injury) his games played or minutes played drops below Zeigler…which again, by definition puts him ahead in rotation.

You are doing the ranking and arguing minutes and order of entering the game. I didn’t say that Bailey will be THE 9th. I said that right now he is one of 9 and the other 8 will not change.

That’s saying he’s 9th in the pecking order lol…this is like taking with SeniorDrill
