BTO’s Kentucky Postgame Report

Not "playing a role." I'm just speaking honestly.

If I wanted to be a jerk or instigator, I could've posted during the game.

You without a doubt were trying to be an instigator. Don’t lie. You don’t imply that this team is basically trash if not for Dalton Knecht if you aren’t trying to get a rise out of people. I doubt this Kentucky team would be anywhere close to as good if not for Antonio Reeves, so it was just a dumb comment. You also conveniently forgot that DK wasn’t the person that burned you in Rupp and that Zakai and Josiah each had 26 in that game.

He doesn’t come around. He literally only posts after Kentucky does something for him to brag about. He’s just a troll that I realize I fed by quoting him.

I don't come around because I have a life that demands my attention. I probably haven't posted 50 times total since last years loss in the ncaat. I definitely remember posting congrats to UT, around the time UK lost.

You obviously don't know me or how long I've been here to face the many many many losses.

No other team in the SEC has had one player carry them as much as DK has for UT. Antonio is great, but I think it's fair to say UK is more balanced offensively than UT is.

Did I say UT would be trash without him? No. I said, "not as great". I think still good. Just not great. I don't think that's unreasonable to rational fans.

Obviously there have been games that other players have stepped up. I said in my original post other players seemed uninterested offensively, and "God forbid you have one of those games...". If you get a game where ZZ, JJJ, or Jonas come out and are locked in, awesome. Clearly the first UK game it ended up being a total team win. Even Santi hit threes. But you don't wanna have a game in the tourney where players go passive, and Dalton has an off night. Hopefully not anyway.

You are the dumb one for trying to pick an argument when there is none.

Alabama would have won like 15 games without Sears.

Has a life and also has 30k+ posts on a rival team’s message board. The math ain’t mathing here.

Not "playing a role." I'm just speaking honestly.

If I wanted to be a jerk or instigator, I could've posted during the game. I was following along in the game thread. Many years ago, I enjoyed posting in them. But too many hurt feelings, too many hateful vols, and too much negativity has driven me away. I enjoy lurking now.

If I am nice, I am assumed to be fake and acting a character to seem likeable. If I am candid and honest, I am the a-hole who needs to leave and find a uk forum. It's a lose-lose situation.

Notice how I didn't even post after the game? I assumed I'd let the embers cool from the loss, but I'm sorry it was still too soon.
I get why think that, but you had to know those remarks would be considered inflammatory 24 hours after the game. You've been around long enough to know that. I'm just saying don't be surprised or become a victim of circumstances you created.

For the most part, I think you do a pretty good job of not allowing your presence to become an aggravating nuisance. You're rarely one to let your UK fandom allow yourself to float out of your lane, which was the spirit behind my "you play a role..." comment.

I just think you could have expressed your happiness with the win, how your team played, and just left it at that. You don't have to agree, but the response you've gotten was very predictable. FWIW, I am unbothered by it, personally, but I can understand where some newer posters would see you name, avi, and comment, and see the worst in it.

A loss is always going to cause bitterness.

We just got home. My biggest takeaway is kensucky fans are f'n insufferable.

All I would say, is that there was a time when our program wasn’t anywhere near the same stratosphere as them. That has changed, and now they see us as a big win. I’ll take it.

And I hope we see them again in one of the tournaments.

Dk is great. I don't think it's blasphemous to say that the season would be different had he not exploded in conference play. Espically with how inconsistent a lot of the others players have been.

I like Santi a lot. I didn't realize it was "bitching". Sorry 🤷‍♂️

Bro, don’t piss on my leg and then try to sell me an umbrella. Below is your original post and it doesn’t much resemble anything you said above.

Regardless, it’s nothing to be sorry for because it seems to be the way for at least the UK fans I know personally.

Kentucky is no doubt one of the most talented teams in the country. RS is an assassin and I’d love to have him. Multiple dangerous guys offensively. If Kentucky strings together a few shooting nights like they had against Tennessee they will make some noise in the tournament. They are capable if they can pull it together for March.

Most satisfying win as a UK fan in a long time. I was even down in Tennessee for the weekend. UK played well but I went away really thinking that if UT didn't have Dalton, then maybe this isn't such a great team. So many UT players just seem uninterested offensively. It worked cause Dalton scored 40, but God forbid you have one of those types of games in the ncaat and Dalton isn't hitting them.
Also a really random thing that annoys me is how often Santi pumpfakes.

If I was a UT fan, what I said would mirror what I've seen a good amount of UT fans have said during multiple games this year.

You don't even know who I am or anything about me, yet you come in trying to lump me in with whatever UK fans you know personally. Before you open your mouth and cry next time, go back and do some research on my posts here. I actively root for the vols whenever they don't play UK. I have been happy to see them finally break through under Barnes and be one of the best programs in the SEC lately. Stop being like so many others who see my name, and let it blind you to what im actually saying.

Our best games are when others are involved and DK finishes with 20-25. When we become a one man show we are very beatable.

So why didn’t you bring something new and revealing and creative? Instead you just copied what’s been written here all year (as you admitted) Obviously it was to poke the bear because it was easy. Of course every team in the country wouldn’t be as good without their best player. What a lazy comment.

I think my life would be better if you posted less.

You are the dumb one for trying to pick an argument when there is none.

I actually really appreciate rival team posters and think they provide a lot of good commentary for the most part. That completely applies to you too.

That being said, my absolute favorite argument is "hey if we took your best player away you wouldn't be as good", as if anyone was arguing against that. It's a lazy argument. We have pretty much the same team that we had last year + knecht. And he's a freaking baller. So given the fact that we live in reality and not a mystery world where he doesn't play at UT, I'm not sure what your point is?

I'm sure if kentucky didn't have Sheppard or Dillingham or Reaves (reeves?) or oyenso or Wagner or thiero, they'd be absolute garbage. And yet somehow thats not the world we live in.

Btw this isn't specific to you. It also goes for the Zach edey haters, the hunter Dickinson haters, xyz. Yeah, good players are good. That's why they play basketball.

This is actually a good comment. Unlike the others who just want to type a cheap insult and then run off.

I think my original comment (which I typed pretty quickly right before going to bed) has a lot more thought behind it than how it came across. When I reread it and understanding not many people know me much anymore, I get how it sounds. I should have taken the time to expound.

I think DK is slightly different than a lot of the stars on other elite teams, because you knew the hunter, edey, etc players were the stars. I'm not sure anyone imagined DK would be a sec poy or 1st team aa type. Offensively he's been huge. On UT specifically he's worked perfectly because so many others are defensively always locked in, but offensively inconsistent. I don't care how great your defense is, you still gotta score. And in a lot of games DK has been there when others seemed to struggle.

Is it a really obvious statement? Yes. I wasn't trying to shock anyone or rile anyone up. I made a comment similar to what I've seen others say at other times. I felt it especially true considering the game that just happened. It's not I said it out of nowhere. The dude scored 40/81 points. It's the first comment I made on dk all season. I've watched almost every UT game, I just leave yall alone cause how sensitive some fans are on here.

No one is typing a “cheap comment” and running off. Several people, myself included, responded to you to remark on the exact comment that @jtipto10 just dissected, which you claim was a fair point. Maybe we just don’t type it as nicely as he did.

Your exact quote was “UK played well but I went away really thinking that if UT didn't have Dalton, then maybe this isn't such a great team.” You didn’t provide any of the context or color that you eventually did a day later, so how are we supposed to know what you mean when your quote reads exactly like a cheap shot to denigrate the rest of the players who made a Sweet 16 last year without DK or even ZZ.

I just think, as @jtipto10 said, the argument you made is a poor one. You can’t take DK off the team, and I also don’t think it’s fair because I have watched quite a few Kentucky games this year where early on in the season as the freshmen like Sheppard and Dillingham and Edwards struggled and were trying to find their footing in college basketball, Reeves carried that team. I fully believe that if you take Reeves off that team, you all also have several more losses just like if DK isn’t on TN. That doesn’t even account for the value that an experienced player like Reeves brings as one of the only upperclassmen on the team to guide the development of a majority freshmen team.

What is funny is how when I say it, it's a poor comment. When UT fans say it, people are in agreement and no one makes a big deal.

I watched a dude score 40/81 points so it seemed pretty apt at the moment. Ya'll can cry and whine about my comment, but it was and is true. UT is built a certain way and DK fills a huge need. Other teams could handle losing a star far better.
